We had a crew of 6 that was going south to north, and we made it to Elk City before the wheels started to fall off of our wagons.
My 2016 KTM 690 sprung a pin-hole sized leak on the back side of the radiator, and another guy broke the lower pivot on his gear shifter on a 2022 Aprillia Toureg 660. (Pivot is at lower part of vertical rod just off his left toe.)

He and I left the group on Saturday, and headed to Grangeville. Locals directed us to “GPS”, which is on the west side of town.
Gosselaar Power Sports?
Are we going to Mike Gosselaar’s shop?
We roll up to the shop, door is open, and he flashes a smile as we disembark. I tell him that we are a couple of “BDR” junkies, and we have problems.
He laughs that there will be no Aprillia parts in his shop, but can he make something work?
He pulls out the “random stuff” bin, and starts thinking out loud: “I don’t have a bolt that is that small, that has that profile, but I might be able to fabricate something. Maybe a bushing that will slide over a bolt, and allow you to shift. If I can get the Outside Diameter to match, inside should should work” and we just stood back, and let him do his thing.
Then the local Police Department showed up.
”Hey Mike, these guys holding you up? Your shop ain’t open on Saturdays.”
Mike responds, “I have a week with Team Honda lined up next week, so I came in to clear some stuff out prior to being gone. Then these guys rolled up, so we are just getting them back on the trail.”
Mike had NO BUSINESS stopping what he was doing to help us, and he never said a DAMN THING about his shop not even being open that day.
I was in heaven. Mike was talking about the big battles between Ricky and James, and I could not believe who I was hearing it from.
As Mike dealt with the Aprillia, I started pealing panels off my 690, and in the process, I found my pin-hole leak. I solved that “red-neck” style, and bailed back to Boise.
IF YOU ARE RUNNING THE IDAHO BACKCOUNTRY DISCOVERY ROUTE, YOU HAVE A RESOURCE IN GRANGEVILLE.

He absolutely dropped what he was doing, on a Saturday, to do what he could to keep two riders on the route. If you need help, Mike Gosselaar is an absolute resource for the Grangeville area.
This is awesome, what a legend to run into. This is the reason doing these adventure trips are unlike any other riding, you never know who or what youre going to run into. We just did a COBDR-ish trip a few weeks back and this dude was out there riding with one arm and crushing it. Turns out they're doing some video about his journey.
Such a class act, great story of the moto community helping a brother out. Glad you guys were able to keep moving, thanks for sharing.
Thats paying it forward, for sure...

For a moto guy, that would almost feel like pulling your car up to a small shop on an off day and having Carroll Shelby himself fix your issue for you......
This should be moved to the moto section so more guys can see it. Front page worthy as stated above. Gives me one more reason to go to Idaho. Great story !!
