They are not past numbers they are current…The issue is that I don’t think people realize that the sport of professional SX/MX has had a banner 2023 and the addition of SMX will even make that bigger that part is strong and growing….but their myopic view is that they are seeing fewer riders at the local level and big bike sales slowing (sales of small electric, 50-85cc are growing)…those are very distinctly different scenarios and those new fans going to the races and watching on TV may be just fans of the sport and not necessarily motorcycle purchasers or local competitors. Again the facts are that the races in 2023 have shown growth in both attendance but also in TV viewership.

My anecdotal evidence is that everyone I usually talk about the outdoors with isn't watching this year. It's a lonely island ☹️

With Cooksey doing its public relations, WSX immediatly regains its credibility.

Yeah going to the most credible media source he could find…and Kooksey giving us his “knowledge” on large investment groups…like he has any idea about global investment groups…what a clown…Bailey has been a snake oil salesman the entire time leading up to this….this is nothing more than him grasping at straws at this point and my guess would be that he is going to try and rebrand Aus SX as the new and improved WSX…

Ya kinda hit the nail on the head…and Dave Prater has said in interviews that both attendance and ratings were up in SX this year…and if anybody thinks that MavTV had higher ratings last year than Peacock this year…well there is nothing I can do to help them…

A lot of numbers are up this year. Fan attendance, ratings, rider participation, etc.

Weege talked about it at the start of the press conference today.

7 minute mark.

Coming in hot with the clever insults. If DonM is making all these claims he needs to back them up, otherwise his arguments are simply his opinions - nothing more.

Thanks for the clarification.  However, your earlier post said there were 'Record attendance and record TV ratings this year'.  So you mean 'record' for the whole history of supercross and motocross?  Admittedly, you did later say this year was a 'banner year'.  This is not an attack on you, I just like to see evidence to back up bold claims about things like attendance, ratings, viewership's - all of which are documented.

From 2023 Pro Motocross Finale Press Conference

Rider entries – more than 600 have signed up for a pro licence to race this year – the highest number in more than 20 years.

In five of the 11 events, rider entries (capped at 90 per class) were sold out.

The SMX Video Pass (used for streaming the races outside the US) has subscribers from 133 different countries.

There have been over 150,000 fans at the pro motocross races through 10 rounds.  Attendance last year was also particularly strong (50th anniversary of the sport) and has either been maintained or increased this year.

YouTube impressions for the pro motocross championship sit at 55 million with over 5 million views, and subscriptions to the YouTube channel have grown by 10,000.

The rest of the information – about other social media platforms, Peacock subscriptions, television ratings on NBC – is quite vague and provides no concrete numbers.

Something like 60 riders from 20 some different countries signed up to race the Pro Motocross Championship.

And yet they still sold more dirt bikes 50 years ago, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha made dual sports, enduros, mxers, 100s, 125s, 175s, Open class bikes. Hodakas, Maico, Bultaco, CanAm, Montesa, HD, Rokon, name it made and sold dirt bikes. Way to promote selling bikes when half the best riders in the world are injured before their season is over.....

Nobody's feelings are hurt....Kooksey just doesn't have any credibility and most the time just makes shit up...like in this video he acts like he is an expert in global funding because he was with Tucker Rocky when they sold....you couldn't get any lower in the chain of command than he was when he was at TR...but he knows....Ok...

Again if you think that MavTV ratings from last year were anywhere near what Peacocks are this year then I have an island oasis in the desert to sell you...There is a thread in here where the attendance at the nationals has been discussed and promoters are quoted as saying they had record attendance at many of the races....if you're so interested you can search it...The California rounds were way down though. I also think that Weege misspoke when he said 150k total as that would be an average of 15k per round and there is no way that's right...

Of the teams:

MCR - Still racing in the US, but backed down to just 250 West...maybe they would grow their US program back to 450s in Supercross.

PMG/HEP - Still racing in the US, but split up efforts for Nationals and WSX, is doing SMX with Chiz, Noren, and Roczen.

Club - Was mostly running different riders in WSX, they have a US team that operated separately (other than Enzo Lopes doing US SX and WSX)

GSM - French Supercross team, would just go back to doing French races

BUD - French team, would just do French Supercross, Nationals, and EMX stuff as they're still going

Firepower - Has a US Supercross team and the factory Honda team in Australia. Maybe they could start doing US Nationals too but that would take additional sponsorship.

Craig Dack Racing (CDR) - Yamaha Australia team, would likely just go back to doing Australian Supercross and Nationals, which they still do.

So of the seven of the teams, WSX going away wouldn't really affect what they do that much.

Three teams it would have a huge impact on are:

Rick Ware Racing - Built just to do WSX, I think they might pivot to US Supercross and SMX (doubt they would touch outdoors)

MDK - Same response as RWR above.

NILS Honda - This was the 114 Motorsports Honda MX2 team. They left MXGP to do this series and rebrand, it's owned by Gariboldi, the man who owns the HRC Honda MXGP team already. I'm not sure what he would do. Their MX2 team that this was originally wasn't doing too great and wasn't attracting much support, so I don't think they would go back to that.

Well it sounds like it could help bolster the US racing. Exactly what we need is more teams.  Too many good riders without a paycheck or 2024 program right now.  If they could shift some of the broadcast off of the factory guys(yeah right),  and throw the other teams a bone, things would be alot better.  To me there is no room in the world for WSX.  Its like trying to bring soccer to the USA as it is abroad.

Because bikes quit being relevant or appealing to them. Keep promoting tracks with olympic level jumps and trails shared with quads and sidexsides and see what you get. We all still want to ride, we just don't want to be rode over or on top off. Many of my old trails are abandoned by dirt bikes now and inundated by sidexsides. The current tracks promote skills most riders will never master or want to.
