I enjoy bluegrass every now and again. Grew up dad listened to either Polka, Bluegrass, or AM radio. I still listen to WJR all the time.
I'm retired so every day is Friday...or Saturday...or whatever day I choose.
Many years ago when the kids were school age...the wife would stick "Let the Day Begin" by The Call in the old house rocker every morning. It's nearly impossible to stay in a bad mood when you listen to those lyrics. Give it a listen and let me know.

Where was the place you saw them? I grew up in Mira Mesa (left in '96) and I don't remember any live music spots other than The Epicenter, which was mostly kids.
It was just a small bar that sat maybe 50-70 people. Had to be around 83-84? I can't even remember the name. Those years are kind of a blur. I just remember taking my wife on a date there to see them. I think that's the only time I ever went to that bar.
Cool. The Bob Hope rec center on Mildenhall used to have live music. Saw Katrina and the Waves there. When BOC played a big venue in London...they usually played at a pub somewhere under "Soft White Underbelly"...those were awesome gigs.

So I originally wrote off Miramar rd., I after I posted I though that seems wrong so I edited it. So I asked my wife when she got up and she thinks it was in a little strip mall off Miramar and Black Mountain.
I have never ever heard anyone mention Stiff Little Fingers. Until now.
I became friends with an exchange student from England in 82 who introduced me to them.

Do you happen to remember a name? The only place I remember that did live music in that area was a little dive bar in the strip mall at the corner of Miramar Rd and Black Mountain Rd but that place would have been way too small for The Call.
You never know...I saw Cheap Trick in a VERY small lecture hall at Queen Mary's Cambridge back in the '70's. I mean, if there were 200 people crammed in there, I'd be surprised. (They were awesome btw).

Ha....what a great thread...don't know how I missed it when it started.
My music tastes are all over the place.... from Bee Gee's to Zepplin and pretty much everything in between. Disco, new wave, alternative, metal, classical, pop, rock, soft rock, golden oldies, big band, Jazz, trance, country, folk, electronica. Everything except cRap or Hiphop which is just gutter trash IMO.
...but for FRIDAY confessional....my all time FAVORITE Friday song is this. Bonus points if you make it all the way thru.
I'll listen to most of that also but not so interested in heavy metal or speed metal. I'd also add old motown stuff. Oddly enough I find listening to the temptations and such very relaxing.
