Hey guys,
Last week I bought a YZ450F '22 (10 hrs) from a well known dealer over here in Belgium. The bike was untouched for over half a year. When the salesman fired up the bike and turned the throttle it immediately stalled/died. I said that i found that very strange but he replied that it was perfectly normal. So I took the bike home and the same problem occured at home and afterwards starting the bike was more difficult. What I thought was, that maybe the battery couldn't handle the load because it probably wasn't charged during the 6 months. So I recharged the battery but this didn't resolve the problem. Another issue that I think of, is the fuel that has been sitting for 6 months. Could that be the problem? I also know someone who is also a dealer of Yamaha in Belgium who said it could also be the wiring of the bike. This week I'm taking the time to inspect the bike. So if someone has any tips for me please let me know.
Thank you in advance
check your app to see if any code cam up bring it back and have them check it, the should have the machine to do that

Hey Slater,
I know Jeff personally and already contacted him on FB. He said it could be an electrical failure. Tomorrow I will connect the app and see if it gives me a code. Thanks for the advice.
Out of curiosity, was the bike warmed up or still cold when you experienced this?
Was going to ask the same thing - I think mine does this a little until warm sometimes, only 20 hours on bike.
If it's not looking to be an electrical issue, the following may be of value now + long-run:
I do know that I get into trouble with aging fuel given my erratic riding schedule, so I use Yamalube's Fuel MedRx fuel additive EVERY tank as well Yamalube's Ring Free at light dosage level.
Thinking back, I used to have serious fuel problems on XR100s with their tiny carb orifices and passages. To solve that problem, I drained the fuel tank, then poured in Seafoam full strength, let it sit for a week, then tried to start it, it ran and seemed to dislodge the gunk, and then I added fuel in as things started to sound more promising and it "self cleaned" over a tank or two and I never had the issue again once I ran Seafoam continuously. This ^^^ was before ethanol content got so high in everyday gas station pumps, so your problem may take a bit more time to resolve with this cleaning approach.

DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Mine will die or at least bog on the stand if I crack the throttle quickly any more than 1/8th turn before the motor has warmed up. Pretty standard fare for any bike really.
If its not up to temp this is normal. The bike will be over fueled on start up and usually just choke itself out of you blip it before the bike has time to warm up and burn some of that off.
Hey guys,
So I went riding yesterday and it wasn't a succes to say the least. It didn't matter if the bike was cold or warm, when I was riding the bike it stalled whenever I turned the throttle coming out of a corner with a loud bang upfront. I was worried if it could be the engine so I was doubting if I would try and ride again. After some advice I tried riding on a different map setting. This didn't help but it wasn't a problem with my engine the person said.
So stalling with a loud bang and sometimes losing power which resulted in 2 minor crashes....
The person who owned the bike before sold it to a Yamaha dealer(De Baets) in Belgium, which sold it to me. Now by coincidence I happen to know the father in law of the previous owner. He told me that the exhaust that was on the bike was not from the previous owner, indicating that someone else had been riding the bike in the mean time. So This worries me as they have a MX team with Paturel. And the father in law told me that he could have been riding the bike for testing parts.
