What's happening Moto Heads!!
Help is needed and much appreciated...
I'm a 36 old Aussie wanting to move to the USA for a 3 to 6 month time frame, longer if the visa would let me. Lol
I'm wanting to fulfill a dream to live and ride the American moto dream.. the mecca of moto. I have been to the states a couple of times on a short 2 week holiday the last 10 years watching a handful of supercross racers, but my next trip I want to fully experience the moto lifestyle that America offers.
My thoughts and plans are along the lines of.
Staying either in Southern California riding and racing the odd local event. Or maybe somewhere in Georgia or Florida where I seen that could be potential place to ride with a shit loads of tracks and training facilities around.
I've also thought about helping out a professional privateer that's needing a extra hand at the track or at the AMA Supercross rounds or at Pro Motocross, either spinning spanners, on the stop watch, throwing up motivational quote on the pit board or help with travel from track to track. Oh I can also help with you you keeping you on the balls of your feet and unlocking the hips (only if required) lol I'm no Ryno but I might know a thing or two.
I'm willing to pay my way with day to day activities but also hope that my helping hand could possibly lead to a place of residency to stay while I visit your amazing country. I scratch your back you scratch mine type of deal. (No gay vibes) lol
Let's face it, my professional moto racing dreams are long over and the next best thing is to live it through an up and comer, and if I can help someone in anyway and that help forefill my dream to experience the American moto lifestyle, while being able to throw a leg over on my off days, I feel would be a win win for everyone involved.
Just looking for some that's interested or helpful to point me in the right direction to fulfill my American Moto Dream ✌️
Cheers Moto Heads 🍻
Thanks Ozberg!
I feel the right person will see this and be willing to help as it will be reciprocated.
What months do you plan on being here? Unless you’re dead set on helping someone during SX I would suggest April-October. Wouldn’t rule out spending time in the Midwest, you will find some tracks with dirt that is more enjoyable to ride, but aren’t going to see the name brand pros…maybe even try to qualify for LL depending on what your budget is. Sounds like a cool excursion, wish I would’ve done something like that when I was younger
I’d rethink Florida, tracks are a ways in between themselves and almost all the training facilities are about as private as they can get. California would be my option if I was a foreigner looking to go balls deep in the American Moto lifestyle for a couple months.
Sounds cool-
What’s the plan for a bike and transportation? Money must not be a concern if your doing this, so perhaps buy a bike in CA ahead on time and have it ready to go when you get here. You can bring gear and tools..Sell the bike when your done.
You could do a long term truck rental from Hertz or Enterprise- maybe $2k per month. But if you have a truck then you’ll have to worry about someone stealing the bike. Maybe a cargo van would be better..(try Penske or u haul).
Lots of planning to do..But I think there are folks on Vital who could help along the way (garage to work in, stay, park for the night, etc)..

Get a part time job with the ama...
The northern to slightly east part of Florida would be your best bang for the buck. Tons of tracks and easy access to tracks in South Carolina and Georgia. Depending on your timing once the weather chills off the Deep South of Florida is booming. There’s some big things being built in the Okeechobee area.

Also - Timing is everything and SoCal summer sand surfing at Cahuilla Creek MX is much different than winter motos, SX race weekends, and green(er) hills…Enjoy the walkabout and keep us updated!
As an average Joe (you get no hookups on your offer) living staying somewhere near the tracks would be your best option in Southern California. You can see and be around the pros almost any day at any track during the off season. Pala, Elsinore and Glen Helen SX tracks plus you can ride those (vet and main) while there you can also ride Perris and Cahuilla on other days. There is also Hemet SX but I’ve never been by there and don’t know the details as well as the factory SX tracks, but I don’t think they are too fond of onlookers up there. Lots to do and see here all the time.

What kind of mechanical experience do you have?
Thanks
I have no real time period set in stone, I guess what works for the other person needing help. I would prefer to go through the time of sx and mx rounds to see part of the series and what not. I've been wanting to do this for a long time but never really committed to it, lol. I'm not getting any younger myself so while I still have a bit of youth in me I got to make this shit happen, lol.
Thanks
I'll take your advice 👍
I'll be buying a bike 100% and cheap van.
I'll have money but that will depend on my length of stay and options I have available, hence why I'm willing to help someone in need that's a professional privateer. Maybe he can lend me a room and I can be a parts changer, truck driver, bike washer, stop watch er? Ect. Maybe the man friend they didn't know they needed to help throw up a pit board. Who knows, I guess this will depend on what help the other person needs.
Haha not a bad option, but I don't think my visa would let me get a" job", quote on quote.
I can help people for sure in return for a place to crash.
Sweet I'll keep that in mind ✌️
Thanks much appreciated 🙏
Thanks ML
Thanks for asking.
Well I've been on a motocrosser since the age of four, Im 36 now and was self taught at a young age all the way through my riding and racing days.
I'm no professional/qualified mechanic but I've done most of my work on my bikes. Anything major I would get my suspension tech to do internals, and anything major in motor, I would get my engine tuner to do.
Mind you when I was younger and money was tight, I did all my top ends, I did have a bottom end let go on me on my old (first of the injected) rmz 450 that I had to do by myself with following the right manual. I been lucky because I wasn't to abbusive on my engines. But I feel that these days racers have part changers and send there big stuff ( moto, suspension) to a professional. I can change parts no problem, even have that TLC touch. I have had to learn young throughout my time racing and riding over the last 32 years to do most of my work. But nothing can't be down without the right guidance, it ain't rocket science. Oh my qualifications are welding/fabrication so im mechanically inclined. I might throw up a handful of my own bikes from over the years so people can get a picture on how I keep my own stuff in check.
