Deep natural sand on main track? Clearly you didn’t ride there much before it became Motobros. Had you, you would know that the main track is full of clay that was brought in. The rollers are about the only thing that’s natural on the main track.
I think we’re full In Florida, just don’t bother coming!
Just watched a video of the new Orlando Mx track…. Looks like all clay…. Very disappointing for me..I get the maintenance benefits of clay but why not just make some of the big jumps clay based? IMO the clay/hard pack, big jump tracks chase away many old school/vet riders into hare scrambles/ enduros. I like jumps just as much as anyone but nothing gets you in a fitness base like a rough sand track. Unreal, I have a better sand track in upstate NY than we do in South East Florida…
Mesa is the same owner at Miami. Sold mesa to a developer

They got the clay from a stadium or something being built in orlando. I believe they got the dirt for free.
They should have left the sand track, which was 110% awesome and used that clay to build that front track into something great and have two tracks plus saturday night racing.
Hey Renner, you probably have more insight on florida moto than most. Any chance of orlando ever going back to sand?
Considering I live 5 min from Mesa. Pretty sure that’s false info. Some people where out there riding last week.
Edit: Laz does own both Miami and Mesa. The sold to a developer part I’m referring to. There are like 5 different owners of the Mesa complex. Laz only has what the track is on. Not much can be developed on it.
Florida used to have so many good public tracks.. does sc have the best tracks now days?
Bithlo/OCR was first ruined by clay back around 1999. Before that it was an actual sand track and was killer.
It will go back to sand on its own eventually, unless they dump more clay. Which is probably what they are going for, a sand clay mix to make it a better training track for Loretta's.
Not when they are not tilling it deep. they have over 12 inch base of clay and tilling 3-4 inches isnt going to bring the sand up
First image shows the track and the parcel size along with one owner, mesa mx. The second image is Sunbiz Mesa Mx owner info which is solely Laz
Hope Mesa stays open and even improves. I feel that Motobros did a great job of showing what is possible and by all accounts they are one of the best tracks in the U.S. now.
I haven’t talked to Dean about it yet. But I think they were just able to get some dirt and wanted to try and bring in more business. From what it sounds like, the turnouts were getting a bit low so they put clay on it to maybe attract new riders. I think eventually it will go back to sand. But again, I haven’t talked to them, nor have I been there.
Laz only owns number 3. The church, that is in partial 4 put a fence up (black line) to make it harder for Laz to enter the property. The torquiest line is the old entrance road. The pink line is the newest entrance. The actual road coming in is a county road, however it stops at the churches fence (black line). Obviously they can’t fence the county road. They did fence the other side of road, that is their property line blocking the original entrance road to the track that was one their property. The land owner of plot 2 let Mesa (Laz) use the corner of his property to have an entrance still. The owner of partial 1 doesn’t do anything with his land, just like the owner of number 2. Number 2 was for sale about a year ago, but no buyer.
When Mesa first opened in 1999/2000, it was a whole complex. Then one day the owners all had a disagreement. About 15 years later is opened up again. This person had number 3 and 4. Laz only purchased 3 and then 4 went to the church. If you’ve ever been to Mesa, you’d know Laz only has what the track sits on. Why there aren’t many races held there, very limited parking for rigs.
Well, if they wanted to sell it for a reasonable price I am sure myself or others would love to turn it into a training compound! lol I hope it stays a track one way or another!
Decent chance I’ve lived there longer than you but alright goober
So… there is a chance the track will still operate?
Pit Row
I hope. There were some people riding there recently, just one day. Other than that, no activity that I’ve seen or heard. I have heard after summer may open back up. That’s just hearsay though.
Been hearing similar rumors about 74. can only hope both have merit but seems like they never do in regards to tracks closing..
