Also a great ride by Braceras in that second moto. He had to give up a place to Horgmo (who came back nicely after a small crash), but that was his seasons' best result. Oriol Oliver rode great too. Have to say that they're a long way behind the Kemea and KTM group guys.
Nestaan put out a statement on Instagram saying De Wolf will miss Finland, however it sounds like he didn't actually injure anything and is just in a lot of pain? They don't specify where either.
All these factory riders going out are a gift for Adamo because that's less people to get between him and Geerts, however it's seeming like that won't matter after his performance at Lommel.
Braceras is much better now compared to the beginning of the season when he was pretty far off the pace!

Great day for Ben Watson, even with a fall in the first race while chasing down JVH with 2 to go, and having to start race 2 on his spare, any day where you beat Gajser , Evans , and Fernandez on a Beta has to be a good day.
And i think its fair to say he was down a fair few HP on both of them .
A convo yesterday resulted in the following fact
Having not missed Lommel or Hawkstone International for as long as i can recall, we think that we have seen Herlings more in the sand in the UK than we have at Lommel in MXGP.
Fun fact, Estonian rider Jorgen-Matthias Talviku raced Lommel sandwood just after performing 250 class in Southwick. Only rider to race both the most sandy races of each championships.
Let's watch his results at Southwick :
In Q1 (group 2), his fastest lap was a 2.11.429, which would put him 13th 4.837 seconds down on Decotis.
In Q2, he had a 2.14.652, that would be 14th fastest laps of both groups, 6.103 seconds down on 1st place Hampshire and 3.346 down on second fastest lap by Jalek Swoll.
In race 1, he started around 15th place to finish 14th, 2 minutes and 5 seconds down on Vialle. His fastest lap was a 2.20.770, which was 7.676 seconds slower than Justin Cooper's 2.13.094.
In moto number 2, he went from 29th to 16th, finishing 2 minutes and 13 seconds off of Shimoda. His fastest lap was a 2.24.878 compared to 2.16.774 of Jo, which is a 8.104 seconds a lap difference.
Now in Lommel :
He was 15th during time practice with a 2.06.622, compared to the pole from Laengenfelder which was a 2.02.054, making it a 4.568 seconds gap.
During the qualifying race, he started around 14th to finish 15th with a 1 minute and 19 seconds gap with the winner Jago Geerts. Jorgen fastest lap was a 2.15.209, compared to the 2.08.185 of Laengenfelder which makes a 7.024 seconds a lap difference.
In race 1, Talviku started in 15 and finished 16 with a lap down on Geerts. Jago's fastest lap was a 2.07.440 compared to Talviku's fastest of 2.16.158, a 8.718 seconds a lap gap.
In race 2, He was in 13th position until his crash at mid-race. He restarted in 22nd to finish 17th with a lap down. His fastest lap was a 2.16.335 to Jago's 2.08.016, a gap of 8.319 seconds a lap difference.

I was about to write almost the same story.
In Lommel he raced his own bike and there were also the DNF's from De Wolf, Benistant and some other stronger riders.
Same goes for Van Berkel in the MXGP class with a 22-21 score out of 28 riders. In Southwick he did a 16-16 on a borrowed stock bike.
Krestinov performed well in Southwick with a 12-11 score. In Lommel he raced the EMX Open class (kind of a B class) with a 6-11.
To me the level in both series (AMA vs MXGP) is pretty equal. It's just different and difficult to compare.
It would be such a Geerts thing to do if he has a horrible weekend in Finland after he has crawled back to 13 points off Adamo. But i really do hope he makes it and wins this title.
A few teams are waiting to see what happens with Louis Vosters and Yamaha I hear…

Did weather have any effect? It was high 80's and kind of humid in Southwick. I didn't see what Lommels weather was. How about track familiarity?

What about Jeremy Van Horebeek! Decent result for someone who retired from MX last year. The Jerre should continue as he is still fast enough to score solid points.

But i agree with all the rest
He did win Superbiker at Mettet in 2012 and 2014 , the first win was on 350 KTM, on the 'new' circuit, where he made everyone look silly.
He also ran Marc-Reiner Schmidt hard for the win on a Yamaha on the road circuit , in 2016 i think, which i may have commentated on.
Lommel was a damp autumn type of day.
LVB is in the Vital MXGP podcast , giving a great insight into the Southwick/Lommel thing, and basically he said Southwick is like a really hot Kegums, and that is a challenge more than the track, compared to Lommel, which everyone said was hard work, Seewer especially saying the loop round the pond made them all feel like amateurs..
All of them are worth a listen
I watched Lommel yesterday and there is no comparison. Lommel looks like it could eat a whole bike.
