Hey that is my dad. Was I under there by chance?

Sometimes it's hard to tell if it's racing or UFC fighting.

#11 The Flying Hawaiian John DeSoto came out to race at OCIR and seems to be caught up in a corner crash. #77 Dave Carlson is to the outside.

What is that the guy just ahead of DeSoto is on? Loks like an AJS tank.

It looks like an older version of what DeSoto is riding. My first real race bike was a ’72 TM250. It had an aftermarket fiberglass tank on it that looked just like that one. Check out the diagonal fins on the head.

I graced the pages after I busted my ass on my xl 80 while negotiating a wet, grassy hillside working at Muddy Creek back in the early 80's.

I am the one with the collar mic and a Victory Sports shirt on with the big "V".

I think it was the same issue that had Kenny Kizzar (#157) doing a blantant take out on Chad Lough in the fast right hand sweeper at the end of the bottom straight at Muddy Creek.

Loren Williams shot them both.

I have the issue somewhere deep, deep, DEEP in storage.

Straight out the magazine from February 1976. I caught so many crashes back then being so close to the action at Saddleback.

A clear case of a European bike imposing it's will over a Japanese bike.

Gary, did you ever race any of the Elkhorn Wisc. Trans-Am's or Inter-Am's?

JPT Sorry I'm drawing a blank right now on tracks in Wisconsin. I raced at Red Bud in Michigan for the Trans-AMA and 500 National but don't remember Wisconsin. Of course I've hit my head a few times since then and my memory isn't what it was Laughing .

Just wondered. It was the closest one to me and saw a bunch of them their in the early 70's. Rode a couple amateur races there myself. Cool, Euro type track.

This was the 2nd turn of the 1989 Southwick National qualifier. Thats Rich Taylor, Micky Kesler and Kieth Johnson behind me.

Nashville, TN. NMA qualifier, 79' or 80' on a YZ100. #811 pulled a "bubba crossing" move on me and my leg ended up between the rear wheel and fender. I had to grab him and almost drag him off the back of his bike before we crashed on top of the next jump.

This doesn't have anything to do with motocross, but you have to agree that good old Burt here is crazier than any mxer. Take a look at those bees around his face. Yeah, this guy sure knows how to flirt with disaster!

A friend of mine had a bunch of those old square box type bee hives way back when. His dad would go harvest them in shorts, tennis shoes, and the face net thing. I do not remember him ever getting stung much.
