That's amazing. Around my house, it's eagles 1, guineas 0. My neighbor has some guineas and sent me this on 11/08/09.

Sunday, 11/08/09

Buchanan Lake near Burnet, TX has an Eagle sanctuary. Evidently, migrating eagles spend their winter there.

A year ago, I swore that two eagles were nesting near our property, because I could hear their scream.

This morning we had 5 guinea fowl; two black, two lavender (silver), and one brown. These being the survivors of what we started with.

Today at lunch, I witnessed the results of a blood bath. Two eagles, no more birds. Buzzards are cleaning up the remains

Reckon, I’ll have to keep an eye on my killer cat, or we may lose him too!

they jumped the fence and my dogs took out one of them. I told my neighbor that I'd replace it, but he didn't take me up on it. We get along pretty well. The eagles got another one. I'm not shedding a tear.

About a year and a half ago I helped rehab a Bald Eagle that had a broken wing. It was an awsome experience that I'll never forget. This eagle while not nearly as big as a golden was actually pretty large for a Bald Eagle. She weighed 13 lbs when she was found. A vet set the wing and pinned it. After the pins were removed she required physical therapy to exercise the wing untill she was able to fly.

Here, Sue (the rehabber) is working the wing after the pins were removed. My job was to control the feet.

Pretty big feet when they're just a few inches from your face.

After almost a year we we were able to set her free.

The last time we saw her.

Does anybody else get "chills" when they see a bald eagle fly by? There are quite a few around here... I just stop what I'm doing and watch them.

I got to drive my bosses back and forth to Denver when I was doing hot tub installs in Vail. It had the 401 and would pull the wheels. Scary, but fun. Is that pic of your's?

Great stuff jib.

I was really surprised at how much strength they have in their legs and feet. Sue would have to try and stretch the wing a little farther than the time before and of course that would hurt. The eagle would start struggling and reaching out for something to grab onto with those feet. She was quite a handful at first.

The eagles are still around. I saw one fly into the “barn” trying to get to the Guineas . Then a second one, probably the mate joined it. I’m taking the pictures thru the window. I went outside and of course, with their incredible vision, they saw me and took off and circled high above for a while before gliding away on the wind.

We have Osprey that live near us and we see them over our house frequently. During spring I have seen, Golden eagles over our area also. It is rare, we have Bald Eagles out on the Channel Islands again. Seeing those are a thrill too as they are rare. One other near us is Peregrine Falcons, I have watched them hunt near a shopping center near here. They get the pigeons, which are like rats with wings.

I could sure use that hay rack he has sitting on the ground, those are made to attach to a bunk feeder like I use.

HA...He's got a bull and I think 3 cows and 2 calves. When they go out of town I get to put the hay in the feeder...so I'm not going to fetch it for you.

Almost to the point of being too many Bald Eagles here, not many Goldens and the Osprey seem to stay about the same numbers. Bald Eagles are increasing in numbers by leaps and bounds.

I've seen those shots before, but still cool stuff. I guess I'm getting complacent about Bald Eagles because we have so many around here it's no surprise to see them every day. They are so common they nest in and around the city's green spaces.

Damn jib, as Napoleon Dynamite would say "That eagle has large talons!"

David Izer has a really cool story about a hawk that he saved.

I hit a guinea once in my old work van some several years ago. Looked like I hit a huge pillow in the road. And it smelled as bad as a skunk.

about a month ago I was driving through town and there was a bald eagle hovering five feet about the streetright infront of might of my vehicle. It was an amazing thing to see, so dont be supprised if your little pet disappears.

Bald Eagles can kill they're own food but they're also scavengers. A few summers ago I was shooting ground hogs from my back porch. I left about 5 carcasses out in the middle of a soy bean field behind my house to see if I could attract some vultures. One day I was watching 5 vultures feeding on them when they all suddenly flew away. An adult Bald Eagle landed and started to feed followed by 3 juveniles. I assumed they were a family and mom was taking them to school. I took some pics but they're poor quality.

+1 Shocked and amazed! You can see plenty of Bald Eagles fishing on the lakes around here, but that blew me away.
