With Chase, Jett, and Hunter’s win bonuses and championship bonuses in SX and MX, along with their salaries. Holy shit, they are paying out some dollars! Their ROI has to be in the red.
Now that Chase is out, at least they’re saving 2nd place bonuses in 450 MX.

How much money has Honda saved in championship bonuses over the last 20 years?

Surely with all the wins and Championships Honda has been enjoying will push sales up. Next year everyone will be buying Hondas. Bonuses are chicken chicken feed in the big picture.

The manufacturer doesn't pay anything for superduper cross.

The bonus is in the smx purse

Do you have access to Chase, Jett and Hunter's contracts?

I'm pretty sure they are happy to pay out every championship bonus they've written into a contract. That's kinda the goal.

It's a marketing budget and not tracked with ROI.  Racing for Honda is about image first, then development, and sales are an added bonus.  I would imagine the other factory teams are similar and why you see Yamaha and Suzuki gone.

I'm no insider...but I'd bet money that most factory riders have large win bonuses in their contracts. If Jett, Hunter & Chase don't...they need better managers.

The contracts they are on happened before smx. Highly doubt Honda amended them to include smx rounds or championship. If the smx rounds would have cost the manufacturers more money they would not have agreed. Maybe it’s something that happens in the future(although I doubt it) but I’d bet a year salary zero riders have manufacturer bonuses for smx rounds or championship this year.

I would take the other side of this bet.

Pretty sure matthes has talked about it.

That the manufactures wouldn't agree to another championship and have to pay more bonuses etc coz of the smx.

But coz the smx win purse is like 1mill, 500k, 250k or what ever for the top 3. That the manufacturer won't have to pay championship bonuses coz the championship bonus is being paid by the promoter in the purse money.
