Well after selling my last bike 02 KX250 when my son was born the wifey gave me the blessing to get a new bike. I dont feel like dumping 9 large on a bike and have been looking around and have noticed a few shops have new left over bikes for screamin deals. I have it narrowed down to a 08 CRF450 or a 08 KX450F. I liked my old Kawi but being out of riding for 2.5 years I havent really ridden many new thumpers. Any guidance? I will most likely be riding in the desert with a little bit of woods riding and maybe a trip or 2 to the sand here and there. Not much track.

I am going to get an 08 Honda if they have any left in January. Can't go wrong with either bike.

Another vote for Honda. The kawi is good bot the fir and finish on the Honda puts it over the top. You don't have to worry about stripped fasteners and drain plugs or silicone gasket in the oil pump. The only thing about the Honda is you WILL eventuLly have valves wear out.

Thanks for all the imput guys. I could no where near run either bike to its limits as I am a 34 yr old desert guy. Im mainly concerned with durability and quality. Im sure both are awesome, I went and sat on them both for a while yesterday. The older Honda's felt really odd to me but the 08 felt nice, the thing seemed really thin and comfortable. The "steering dampener" thing has me chuckling a bit, Im no engineer but I dont really see how that thing has the ability to do much. I will probably stick a scotts on there. I think my garage will have its 1st ever Honda in it this weekend. Thanks again guys.

Hondas, are great, but have a lousy valve system. (don't last)
