So Impressed with Deegans’s 2 O/A in the series

4/30/2023 3:25am Edited Date/Time 4/30/2023 3:33am

I just went and checked results from the 9 East Rounds run thus far and Deegan has 3 podium finishes all of them 3rd places Vs 6 off the podium finishes which makes his 2nd place in the standings an interesting one as he has spent 2/3rds of the series off of the podium. Definitely a successful rookie season by anyones standards but 2nd place in the standings definitely a little inflated.

Houston 4th place.

Tampa 4th place.

Arlington 8th place.

Daytona 3rd place.

Indy 7th place.

Detroit 3rd place.

Atlanta 3rd place.

East Rutherford 6th place.

Nashville 4th place.

If something is impressive why do we need to be constantly reminded how impressive it is?

Are we not allowed or capable of forming our own conclusions?

LOL, the kid is fast nobody doubts that but he certainly benefits 5000% from the Monster Energy & Deegan family marketing machine.

If you didn't click on the thread maybe it wouldn't have been so constant for you.

Depends who finishes in front of who at the end of the season but that definitely looks like Deegan! So long term definitely Deegan but I dived into the results from each round and Max is definitely winning that race if he didn't record a last place finish at Detroit he would be well clear of Deegan in the points! Here is how they have stacked up:

Houston -               Deegan 4th    Anstie 2nd

Tampa -                  Deegan 4th    Anstie 3rd

Arlington -               Deegan 8th   Anstie 5th

Daytona -                Deegan 3rd   Anstie 2nd

Indy -                       Deegan 7th   Anstie 5th

Detroit -                   Deegan 3rd   Anstie 22nd (Last Place)

Atlanta -                   Deegan 3rd  Anstie 5th

East Ratherford -     Deegan 6th   Anstie 1st!!!

Nashville -               Deegan 4   Anstie 5th

Deegan = 3 podiums from 9 rounds all podiums 3rd place, Anstie 4 podiums best finish 1st and 2 x 2nds and 1 x 3rd. Anstie's Detroit ruined him otherwise he should be double digit points up on Deegan for 2nd place going from his previous result's. Today's race in Nashville was interesting though both Deegan and Anstie both found themselves together at the start of the race and by the end of the race Deegan had put 20 seconds on Anstie by the end of it.

How about you bowl who's season would you prefer?

This^^^is 100% correct. But a lot of people born with the advantage of motivated and successful parents don’t share the drive needed to succeed themselves. Haiden seems to have that drive, probably instilled into him by his parents, but he’s got it.

The only thing he’ll never have is the label “self made man”, but having a few championships and a fat bank account is a pretty good way to forget about labels.

I guess the thing I have the hardest time with is the fact that so many think a championship is a given for Danger Boy or ANY other rider.

He is somewhat backed into a corner here.

Yep, championships seem like the expectation. He’s had every possible advantage from the start..

As a guy who had zero family support to ride, let alone race, it’s hard not to be a little jealous. But I can’t imagine the pressure to perform, there’s a whole organization dedicated to his success and support, a lot of people are dependent on him. So far he’s hitting the mark!

I love the thought that all these dislikes are probably men in their 40's+ that had their wives leave them, kids don't talk to them so they take their anger out on a 17 yr old Haiden Deegan every chance they get on the Vital MX forum. Literally no other explanation for guys who apparently don't like a rider to go in every one of the threads about that rider and spend time disliking anything positive about them. It's too bad for them really lol

You seem very angry.

Most of the comments on Deegs are measured, thoughtful and based on logic and evidence provided by his riding.

They are also generally pretty positive about his future in the sport.

Never mentioned comments. Scroll through the post and look at the dislikes. The OP has 20 dislikes and all it's about it giving Deegan credit where credit is due. Some sad family-less folks out there!!! (Only logical reason for being over double his age and hating the kid). Never seen a regular full grown adult hate on a 17 year old

That the OP's comments are swooning hyperbole and factually incorrect probably contribute to the down votes.

He's had a satisfactory debut but on the scale of best rookies he is probaby in the all time 15 to 20 bracket, so arguably mediocre on that scale.

The original post,

"Honestly didn’t know how he’d stack up in his first season. I believe in this kid now.  Excellent results and effort. "

And that's your reply to it? What was it like when your wife left and the kids ghosted you??

15-20 all time for debuts is top 1% BTW so by your own words, excellent. Not mediocre.

i gotta say he’s probably one of the more consistent and controlled rookies I’ve seen over the last couple years. there were a few bone head moves here and there but no major get offs or injuries.

What's with the gratuitous wife and kids insults?

Grown men know that wives defect from marriages, and initiate divorce and separation about 75% of the time; and often poison kids off their dads while they are at it.

I'm a Deegan agnostic and have been following the sport since it was invented in the 1970's, so I'll wait until he completes the year for a proper judgement. Based on the SX results, rather than the feeling and emotions being expressed, I'll stick with OK to mediocre for now.

You are the worst kind of fan in this sport. I absolutely cannot stand people like you who carry on about disliking someone and then bringing there age into it. So why don’t you tell us all at what age is it acceptable for us “40 year old wifless haters” to be able to not be a fan of Deegan and not be accused of hating on a 17 year old? Will his age be bought into it next year when he is 18? How about when he is 19? 20? If he isn’t liked he just isn’t liked simple as that. Leave his age out of it you simple minded flopper.

So many said J Mart was title contender. The kid has passed him many times last night putting 4 seconds on him in one lap.

That’s what I thought before the SX season. Didn’t turn out like I thought it would.

Kid's doing great and has a bright future ahead of him. It appears he's not afraid to put the work in, he rides smart and this journey is just starting for him.

This series is what this thread is about. Hence my comment. But since you mention outdoors I doubt J Mart will repeat his past endeavours

He's had a very, very good rookie season. Not historically great, but definitely heading in the positive direction. Getting as many gate drops and laps on the track as possible early on is the best way to ensure a successful future, and he's done exactly that, along with a few very solid rides. I would also point out that his pace seems to have improved since the 3 or 4 week break the east class had. He was running strong ahead of Thrasher in Atlanta, set the fastest lap of the race in East Rutherford (given it was a mud race), and had great speed in Nashville - his start hurt him but he was actually putting time into the gap that Smith and Shimoda had over him.
