That was my grandfathers ranch. (My track) The one next to the 118. Where the guy cut off the locks. We were pretty pissed about that, because that’s how shit gets shut down, and that’s what eventually happened. My grandfather Had about a 100 head of cattle there. so when people did shit like that the cows would get out too. So not only did we lose the track, but my grandfather lost cattle and money because of stuff like that. It’s gone now and my grandfather has since past. Sold the land and cattle and cashed out. Retired in Texas. It was fun to have the Alessi’s there and ride everyday after school. Actually funny this came up. Cause I was cleaning out a closet about 3 months ago and found a bunch of old pictures of the track when we were on 80’s. Unfortunately I am not at home in California. I will post them up when I get home from my house in Colorado. I’ve never posted here but always read the stupid shit people think they know about riding or racing. Most of it is idiotic, but other stuff is cool to see. Especially about old stuff like this. It’s cool to see people I used to race against post stuff or I see a lot of kids dads on here who I used to race with. I was born and raised in Thousand Oaks and grew up riding/ racing with Seely and the alessis since I was probably 7 years old. We used to ride behind their apartment building in Moorpark. That’s actually how the conversation got started between our dads on where we could build a bigger track without being bothered. Basically about building a private track somewhere. We asked my grandfather for permission to build on his land. I know all about the so cal scene from the 90’s till 09 when I was paralyzed at LACR. If you care to check out my instagram @jaymessoliz you can see what I am racing and doing now. I’m still a racer, not motocross of course. I might have a chance to ride again this spring/ summer with a program that helps injured riders get on a bike again. I know this was years ago and it’s all said and done. But I wished people would have respected my family’s property a little more because that’s eventually how everything got shut down. Who knows? That could have been my property or still in the family if my grandfather didn’t get burned out with shit that was going on. Anyways I am not here to make enemies. You guys are moto family. My family used to say all the time when we used to have the track- I wish people would just ask us if they can ride with us. We would have let them ride if they knew us. We are really cool people and would have let people ride if they were cool about it. But kind of crazy you guys are talking about it. It’s still pretty legendary in the area. You could see us flying in the air since we built some big jumps next to the freeway so it wasn’t a secret, but private land. I’ve always wondered how many laps I put into that track or how many tanks I burned. For one thing having a private track improved my riding a lot when I was a kid. Anyways I could tell you guys all kinds of stories about the track. The guy who built it, is Mark Peters famous track builder. It was pretty cool we built a little bit from every track we went to. For example we had the 10 commandments and a copy of the over under tunnel step up from poncas. It was fun. Rounding up cows on the bikes. We even built a huge jump going over the hill where there are orange trees now.It was like the McGrath jump at Castillo ranch in terrafirma2. Anyways it was great times while it lasted. I’ll post pics in a couple weeks when I get home.
Jimmy, I'm going to hit you up on IG! Been years buddy!
I'm always shocked by how many people who are in the public eye buy property under their own names. It is very easy to look property records up.
In a way....I kinda wish I had not watched that video. The still images are iconic. ...but the video...everyone seems really uncomfortable...even the Great Communicator Reagan flounders. DeCoster looks like he wants to kill Reagan...lol. Even Hannah got all star-struck "gee whiz".
Still....very cool to see that, something I have never seen before. A room full of legends from completely different worlds.
Thanks for sharing.

You used to be able to see the decomposed granite track from the freeway. But now the trees have grown tall so you can't really see it.
I used to commute past that place every day, but I never saw that track being used. I wonder what the builder used it for. Flat Track bikes? Sprint Cars? Was it just for practice, or were they hoping to have races there?
There were so many good tracks all over the Conejo and Simi Valleys back then. From Honda Land and Eringer in Simi, to the 23 Fwy tracks, Newbury Park next to the 101, Hidden Valley private ranches, and also back in Decker Canyon. I used to ride a private track off Carlisle Canyon. Those were the good ole' days when all you had to worry about were starting fires, rattlesnakes, and the occasional police helicopter that would show up to bust everyone. I was coming down a steep mountain trail back in Decker Canyon once and I came over a ridge and the police helicopter was hovering below me. The would land by your car and hand out tickets if you didn't have permission from the owner.
Where was your track next to the 118? I don't remember ever seeing anything.
Thanks for sharing ! the picture is great but the video has a very awkward feel to it...
Should have had Larry Maiers with them, explaining what kind of Commie ass stomping event this was !
This was the only picture I could find of the track at the ranch. Sorry I didn’t post sooner I just got back from ski racing season in colorado. The rest of the pictures are in storage. I will have to dig out the old moto stuff one day. Anyways the track was off the 23 freeway. The freeway is right behind the fence in the back of the picture. Lars from Honda used to pick me up after school and take me riding along with another buddy of mine who now lives in colorado. He used to have a little Honda civic and a little 2 bike trailer with pretty much wheelbarrow tires. When he was in high school. He used to back it, into drive thru’s to order food which was pretty impressive cause the trailer was so squirley.
I think the picture was in 98
Reading all this is interesting to an older vet like me. I'm on the mend from breaking my femur at a track just after Christmas 2022 and y'all chiming in on old memories and the various tracks around the area back then is pretty cool. Hard to believe how close the track of the home just sold is to the library/museum. Hope to see more pics of the track once off 23 too
