Looking for recommendations, what's your favorite?

I like my Alpinestars A1 under jersey chest/back protector. I'm coming from the Leat 4.5, which is like a suit of armor compared to the A1. It breaths easily and you can take the back plate off if you want. I'm an above average sized rider at 5'11" and 235lbs and the fit is nice. It doesn't make me look any bulkier than I already am. lol

Recently got the Fly Revel and really like it. Super comfortable and great protection.

I've tried a handful of over and under protectors the last couple years - I've landed on the Fox Baseframe Pro 3D Vest.

No mobility restriction, very well ventilated, easy to wash and great impact protection on the chest and back. Not much coverage in the stomach/ab/kidney region if that is priority for you.

100% I would go with the Alpinestar A1.  They have a few model that are pretty close so you can pick which one has the protection level that you want.  They make a size (XL) for people with larger frames.

Count me in the tribe of using an Astars A1.

I wear the A6 which is like the a1 but with shoulder protection( plate and screws holding my shoulder together). Very comfy and wear it easily under my jersey.

The Astars is by far the most popular, Flys new one is basically like the older beloved Astars, however these are roost guards, not full chest protectors like required in MXGP or the new AMA amateur rule. The newer Astars version is considered a chest pro.  I am running the Atlas defender chest pro, just switched it to the under jersey mode and will be trying it out for the first time this weekend.

I think any chest pro (other than those full upper suits) you wear under jersey is going to need something under it. You could tape your nipples.

TLD Rockfight CE Flex is my jam. Had the old A1 and one of the newer Fox ones... This one has been my favorite as far as fit and having a good balance between being minimalist and providing adequate protection.

I wear it directly on my sexy nude body no problem.

I just got the tld Rockfight after not wearing one for a long time. It’s comfortable..Use it without the back plate which was the reason I went with it over the Astars. Of course the second time I wore it I went otb and scraped up my back. Haven’t gotten a scratch aside from roost marks racing without one for several years.

Yeah.  I had the Atlas defender as well.  It’s that rubber material on the inside of the chest protector that really chafes your skin bad.  It’s terrible.

Imo Leatt 3DF Air Fit vest is the way to go. Very comfortable and CE2 protection that moves with your body.

EVS Revo 5

I chose it over others because it's not bulky and still has shoulder protection.

I run the non CE TLD Rockflight off-road because I already have a backpack with a mini waterbed in it. Maximum ventilation and surprisingly effective protection and comfort

The new Fly CE Revel Lite was awesome this weekend! Ventilation was amazing, great balance of protection and comfort, also wore it under the jersey without any undershirt and had 0 irritation or chaffing. It seems to be very similar to the older lighter Alpinestars A1 but still has the CE ratings. I am very happy and will continue to test through the summer as it gets hotter.

Based on my experience with TLD rockfight and Alpinstar A1...I personally feel the A1 is far more comfortable than the rockfight and also not as noticeable under a jersey.  Sent the Rockfight back due to not digging the fit or look.

My son had always worn the TLD chest protectors and loved them plus they were safe and durable.  He recently wanted to switch to the Astar A4 with only chest protection portion used.  The Astars buckles both broke within the first few months, at Mini O's I asked the mobile Astar guy if we could get replacement buckles, he said no, I could buy a new chest protector.  They are $170 and need replacing over a buckle that costs a nickel.  After further looking at it, they are even sown in, so you couldn't replace it if you had them.  I fixed them by breaking the remainder of the buckles off and replacing with a zip tie.  It actually works really well and the zip ties don't break.  Don't think I would buy another one.
