Getting back into moto after 20 years.  Older, slower and fatter so looking for maximum protection.  I have a tendency to get hot easily.    Currently debating between Leatt 6.5 Pro or RXR Cybr and lower consideration for the Alpinestars A10.  Anyone have direct experience between the two (or three)?  I'm about 6" 1", 240 lbs and working on dropping.  Also planning on running a neck brace with whatever is purchased.   Thanks for help!

I have an RPro chest protector and it's an amazing chest protector. I really can't speak highly enough of it, I've taken some big impacts to the chest in it and because of the airbags I've felt basically nothing. So my vote is for RXR.

Only thing is the shoulder bumps you can order with it, I don't have any but they're not intended to be used as additional impact protection but rather as a brace for people with/recovering from a shoulder injury.

Has anybody used the rxr cybr and leatt 6.5?  If so, what's your thoughts between the two on protection, fit, heat, durability,  etc.?

Juck, do you wear a neck brace with your RXR.  If yes, what do you wear and how does it fit?

I wear an Atlas Air size medium with my size medium/large chest protector. I wear the chest protector under my jersey and slide the front neck brace supports under the front of the chest protector and sit the back supports on top of the back piece. I'm between sizes with neck braces due to my weirdly shaped chest so I've also worn a small neck brace with the chest protector over my jersey and slid the supports behind the chest protector, however the neck brace often gets pushed up at the back if I do that.

For now I prefer to wear the chest protector under my jersey however it can get really hot wearing it under the jersey due to the material it's made of, whereas it doesn't really make it much hotter if you wear it over the jersey. Also wearing it with the back of the neck brace touching the back of the chest protector does reduce clearance from helmet to neck brace but it doesn't bother me too much.

I'm still in the middle of recovery from a broken shoulder and 7 ribs. After looking what's out there for protection, I'm probably gonna go with the Tekvest Bushmaster. I do mostly enduros so this sort of protection is gonna work for me.

Here is a video review.

Interesting. I wonder how it would be worn under a jersey for MX?

I'd go with the A6 over the A10.  Still CE level 2 but a little slimmer.  It goes under the jersey but its kind of like a honeycomb constriction so air flows right through it.  The A10 is pretty bulky and harder to move around in.

All of the pictures I've seen they were worn over the Jersey. Looks like it would be super bulky to get a Jersey over it.Screenshot 20230423 220646 Google

Looking at pictures it kind of looks like there are two layers to some of the Alpinestars. Is one layer softer than the other like a duel density or a kind of like a crumple zone?

I ended up going with the Leatt 6.5 protector and 5.0 neck brace.  Figured it's a start and can't find any bad review so 🤷

Yeah kinda.  There is a softer foam that goes against the body.  I’ll take a pic of the inside when I get home tonight and post it.
