I am going to start testing this modified short body Keihin PWK Airstryker soon on my TM 144. It will replace the old school long body, screw top 38mm PWK that comes stock on the TM's. The new carb has been CNC bored by Williams Motowerks on the top side (the bore is a subtle D shape) and then hand finished and blended by Terry Varner to the final spec. The bore on the top side ends up at approximately 39.5mm and remains 38mm on the bottom side. Varner then hand matched it to a slightly modified Vforce 4R reed block. The V4R is slightly wider than the V3 so it should help with the additional flow of the bigger carb. To make the airboot line up properly we added a bell extender with epoxy to make up for the shorter length of the short body carb. While we were at it with the epoxy, Varner filled some of the unnecessary cutouts in the intake bell to smooth out the airflow as much as possible. Then to finish it off we ground off all of the unused external casting provisions for the electronics used on some of the OEM applications of this carb. This one started as the KTM version that does not have electronics. I am really happy with the way it turned out, it is definitely one of a kind and I think it will take the 144 to the next level.
I will post again after I get some testing done.
Here are some pics of the un-blended CNC cuts on the bore.

Here are a few pics of the blending process and the manifold matching.
A pic of the bell extender.

If you payed Terry Varner any money to do any work you are part of the problem with him. He screws over 5 people for every one person he does good for. People need to stop giving him work. Theres plenty of good shops.
Finished intake bell and carb bore.
External pics and the areas where material was removed.
I got a 10 day turnaround. Is that a BAD thing?
Very Nice!
Not full tilt without a stic block
We have dyno tested them many times and I feel the stock one is better if properly jetted (I am fully aware there are a lot of people who disagree with that)
Stic block is leaner but not better IMO.
Woah!!! This is amazing... You got Varner to actually WORK on something?
Didnt you post in the Varner thread?
Have you deleted those posts?
You guys hear this shit was "hand finished" by Terry Varner. What a fuckin joke.
BlackDiamond, you have done some beautiful, detailed stuff, but you can’t be that naive to what Varmint has done to people…10 day turnaround, you are a VIP to him lol. Everyone else is 10 years(if lucky)
