No - before Thrasher went down, Shimoda was like 7 or 8 seconds behind Thrasher. When Thrasher went down, timing & scoring updated Shimoda's race position to 4th but left Thrasher's timing (9 sec off leader) next to the 4th position, making it look like Shimoda was 9 sec off the leader. When Shimoda's time went "down" to 17 sec back, that was because it was his actual timing and not Thrasher's.
