Actually, handguns are most commonly used in mass shootings. The AR platform, is the governments agenda, and the liberal media, because it gives you the opportunity to defend yourself from an out of control tyrannical government. You know, like the government we have now.

Ok, I accidentally put in a period instead of an “a”. I can see how someone who shot a 4/10 shotgun could be confused by that.

Not to mention that is more of a punctuation error, than grammar.

Depends on how you define mass shooting. If you define it as more than X people injured in a single event, like some do, then yes. If you define it like most everyone considers it, as a person going into a populated area and randomly killing as many people as they possibly can, then it’s an AR15.

Then you’d also have to consider the socio-economic problems, fatherless homes in the Black and Hispanic communities. Again, unlike what the media reports, the majority of violent crime is perpetuated by the minority communities. Look at the FBI statistics.

Maybe we need pregnancy and parenting licenses…..

Possessing a firearm is an extremely large responsibility. I was introduced to them at age 7. I shot a .22 at the gun range with my father and a 4/10 shotgun on my uncle’s land out in the country. When I was 12-14ish, I shot a pistol for the first time. Not sure which type that was. I’m sure something mild and easy for a kid my age.

It was instilled into me from a very young age that the gun is always loaded and to take tremendous care when handling one. Nothing else matters when carrying a firearm.

I could have went when I turned 18 or 21 and bought a firearm and passed any necessary safety training course with ease. Very few people in the country though can say that. Many go out and buy a firearm without having even fired one under an expert’s supervision.

Anyway, my solutions that would drastically reduce gun crime without infringing on the law abiding people.

21 to purchase any firearm. This one is easy. Politicians can’t say with a straight face you have to be 21 to purchase alcohol or cigarettes but can purchase firearms at 18.

2 week wait period to purchase a firearm. My entire family owns firearms as they’re big hunters. I have friends who are too. Never once has any of them said yeah I’m going deer hunting on Saturday. Gonna stop by Cabella’s and buy guns and ammo on my way. Doesn’t happen. Wouldn’t affect them. I can nearly guarantee you that people do go out and buy a firearm and use it to harm people within a day or two of the purchase.

Optional gun buyback at your local sheriff’s office. They’ll pay you fair market value for your weapon. This prevents at least some sales from person to person and reduces the amount of firearms that end up in the hands of horrible people.

Obviously our background checks aren’t good enough. Just in this recent shooting, we know that mental illness is an extremely common trait in transgender people. I find it hard to believe that there wasn’t some sort of red flag in there that should have been caught, but as our background check system is now, it wasn’t.

Pass a test and renew your license every 5 years. Free of charge to you. Paid for by the state. To get your initial license after you turn 21, you go through firearms training and the instructor teaches you the many things that a lot of people might not have had the luxury of knowing like I did when I was a child.

Notice I never stated anything like a confiscation or a ban. That’s silly and would never work. We just can’t sit here and chalk up dead children and adults in mass shootings or regular homicides as the cost of freedom like some claim. It’s clearly an issue and it needs to be addressed. Many on the right dig their feet in because they see any measure at all, even the slightest thing, as an infringement on their rights. Speed limits are reduced on residential streets so people know there’s a consequence if you drive fast and it keeps the children there playing a lot safer than if there were no speed limit. There’s still going to be people who don’t follow that law and go 50, but that doesn’t mean there should be no speed limit on the residential streets just because some still won’t follow the law.

As a 2nd amendment defender, concealed carry permit holder, freedom advocate, conservative (the real kind), who grew up surrounded by guns, and a hunting advocate…I have no issue with any of those things.

So if someone was driving down the road with a .50 cal fully auto mounted in the bed of their truck, that’s perfectly okay? Not being okay with any law seems a bit extreme. That would be the polar opposite of the far left who wants a ban and confiscation.

Banning and confiscation measures would lead to major blood letting in this nation. The far left also thinks Socialism a good idea.

I’m sorry if I offended you. I just thought it was funny that I made a mistake and didn’t proofread my post, and you had to “decipher” it.

I wasn’t making fun of you shooting a shotgun at 7, just that you called it a 4/10, instead of .410. That is the diameter in inches of the bore.

It was  tit for tat, and again, I apologize if I offended you.

All good. Funny thing is I’m a lot more conservative than people here think. I just enjoy hearing opposing views and this site is very conservative, so I stand out a bit on some issues discussed here. Anyway, it looks like Muttly created a thread about gun laws if you’d like to discuss things there.

I don’t know where you are in MO, but if you ever come down to 4 State in Neosho let me know. I haven’t gone to a track in a while.

Edit: Possum Hollow would be good, too.
I refuse to get on Facebook (I’m old) so it’s hard to keep up with when any of the tracks are running.

At this rate, I'm going to have to convert the bathroom in my house from a men's room and start letting my wife shit inside.
