It's odd to show the 3 biggest names of the sport on the intro?
it was odd to me when the Stweart daytona crash highlight was mixed in with the current season. Once they pulled in former champions it made a little more sense but still seems very random to show a crash from 10 years ago

It's because the entire Supercross broadcast production is run by simpletons that have no concept of creativity.

Watching the beginning of every basketball game, I would think it was equally as odd if they showed highlights of Bill Russell. Or Joe Montana every Sunday before a football game...

I guess it is an unpopular opinion, but I love the intro, and just the broadcast in general this year. It genuinely gets you amped for the night show.
And on top of it, more Daniel Blair in the booth has been incredible. Hopefully this rolls into him being full time with RC.

Last week, I noticed they already have edited in Haiden Deegan on the podium, along with all the aforementioned greats.
