Local dirt track dudes run merch stands at Po-Dunk Speedway to support their racing. Promoter charges a fee and has a designated area for merch tables. Wives and Moms run little cargo trailers behind their suvs. It's a family affair and everybody has a part to play. This can be done in SX if Feld wants to give a little extra effort.
What if privateers require a $25 DONATION at their pit and the recipient gets a free prize AKA a shirt in their correct size. Nobody is selling anything. Free prize with every donation.
There's also a certain privateer that sells the most amazing jerky in the pits. I buy some every year.

I know that in the past there have been rules against giving away stuff too. I don't know if they still exist and or what was not allowed . I think a rig provided by Feld would be the most realistic way of getting it to happen in the quickest time frame.
I think selling out of the pits , as unrefined as it might sound. I think it would provide the best sales numbers for the privateers . A fan could make an impulse buy after meeting a rider , right there at their pit. Setting up a trailer would require more promotion to let fans know which riders merch was for the rider they wanted to support. I imagine that it wouldn't be just shirts with the racers name , number or pic of them on the shirt. A bunch of identical shirts with just a name or number change might work, but I think that there are a lot of racers out there with wild personalities and their shirts should showcase them better than that. If you look at some of what Youtubers have for shirts, many do not have the channel or creators name on them. I would think the same would be true for rider merch that was really in the personality of each rider. That way it would not only provide a way for fans to give them some funding, but also provide a way for new fans to find them .
Feld is missing out on a potential revenue stream, and I bet it's for good reason.
For one, it helps protect their bread-and-butter sponsorship streams from competition. (Wouldn't want vendors selling RedBull and Rockstar in the pits, competing with the title sponsor!) You can be sure they've already looked at making more money with this, and have decided it's not viable.

These days, I would think that any rider would be smarter to sell their merch on their own social media vs. The headache transporting the stuff to races.
Yep, if a privateer doesn't have a Vlog, solid social media presence and a website selling merch....they aren't trying hard enough to make money and I don't wanna hear them whine about Feld not letting them sell merch.
I thought it was cool the year I went to the Daytona road races and flat track that the flat trackers sold t shirts out of the back of their box vans. Seemed very grass roots, like older days of mx.
Or as they make the dogs in RI (or used to) at one of Guy Fieri's favorite haunts.
If I take my kids to a race and am walking through the pits and one of them sees a cool t-shirt or hoodie I would be inclined to make a spontaneous purchase. People at live events tend to be looking for souvenirs to buy. Zero chance I am going on my own to look for a random privateer's merch website. They should at least have the option of selling merch at the races, in addition to online.

Gotta have money to make money. A lot of privateers don’t have the disposable income to start this up. It’s a shame because with out the privateer,there wouldn’t be a full gate. I say let them sell what they can to make money so they can make it to the next race. Jett can do this because he’s worth a few million,Logan Karnow is lucky to make 100k? Field is already making a shot ton of money,give these privateers a break.

Didn't say that...If they put all their efforts into their social media promoting their merch and selling online is better than having to make room and haul their inventory state to state race to race then selling 50 shirts a race...and they will sell more online anyways.
They do have the option.. its just expensive
Found it hard to listen when his agent had to say "right" after every sentence. Drives me nuts when people at work say that when they are presenting, to me that tells me they don't believe what they are saying and trying to convince themselves.
Also found it funny when he was saying how reporting on riders should be more like stick and ball sport reporting on athletes. Then latter on when talking about upcoming contracts with Jo and others he said he couldn't talk money. Well that's one of the major things reported on with the mainstream athletes!
Depends if that $100k is actual income or before expenses when he's paying for bike, transportation, maintenance, etc.
I would say it is a pretty good bet that jet is getting a cut instead of feld.
Say a guy is making 100k before expenses. So you have your sprinter payment,paying for a bike or two. Gas,parts, travel expenses. When it all said and done,he could be making 40/60k . That isint crap in todays world. All im Saying is let these privateers sell some shirts and help them with some gas or entry fee money at the next race.

If you are a privateer who is racing Daytona and you're not in Tampa tonight I don't want to hear any sob stories. With a $10 grand pro purse a privateer could make more money Thursday than Saturday night.
There is money out there, you just have to go out and make it, the series shouldn't have to go out and make all kinds of special kiosks or vendor areas for a guy who may sell 10 t-shirts.
Motocross and Supercross are true meritocracies the way it should be.
