Oh the irony of Jett being mad at someone cross jumping.

To all of the people using the Forkner and Jett crash as an example he should not have called out Thrasher ( and then changed his mind after seeing the other view) . I think that if you asked him about that crash he himself would say he was riding sketchy and it was his fault.  After that race he was really bummed out about that crash and Forkner being hurt. So really he has been in the place of Thrasher  and his criticism could be self reflection on how he felt like he was riding a couple years ago, compared to now .Either Way , it is nice to see a rider give their honest opinion , and change his mind after seeing he was wrong.

I am a fan of his, though so I am not totally unbiased.  Maybe I'm stretching on the  defense of the calling other racers sketchy . But Even back right after the Forkner incident ,   Jett was visibly upset that he caused the crash.  And I feel like I can remember  him talking about being sketchy when he had a bad race this year.

Totally ignoring that he took the cross jumping comment back  screams biase to me. I guess there is nothing wrong with not being a fan of a racer. But stuff like using these selective facts  is a big part of what is dividing everybody in so many things these days. Had he not corrected himself , then I might not have even commented in this thread. But pulling out pieces of something to support your idea of what happened is becoming way too common . I guess that a lot of people may have just gotten worked up, and started to yell at their TV and missed him change his take on the move. But there have been multiple posts with people saying that he changed his mind.  I think he's a young kid , who is one of the best SX racers in the world at the moment and has had some on the edged and over the edge sketchy moments himself , so using the word was not meant as an insult . Maybe Jett can define the way he was using the word. Not that it would really change anything. The haters will hate, and the fans will fan.

Good post. Jett is a gem of a dude and a truly generational rider. Why in the hell wouldn't you love Jett? He crushes life and is nice to everyone.  The haters are just jealous, and that's the kind of life they live. They come up with reasons to dislike Jett but their reasons are shallow. Same with the Deegan haters.

Thrasher is a stud. Hope he and Hunter can battle it out for the rest of the series and I bet they race clean.

Can you walk us through the bridge incident with Hunter [Lawrence] from your perspective?

It was totally my fault. I got my body to the right on the single right before it and just jumped it – I had no intention [of doing that]. I am not a dirty rider at all and did not want to cross jump him. I apologized to him after. There is not much that I could do in that situation. It was late in the main event and I was a little tired. I came over it and got all my weight to the right. It ended up with him going down, which sucks. I hate that. It was my fault, for sure, and I will try to be better. It was a racing incident – it is going to happen out there.

Did Hunter seem to understand when you spoke to him?

Yeah, he was cool about it. We have raced hard and good – he is a tough competitor. We have never had any problems.

I don’t think anyone is hating on Jett…but like me they are not ready to say that he’s at the level of Chase and Eli after the MXDN which history has shown that winning moto’s at that race usually doesn’t carry forward to the next season…it was one race. I expect him to be very competitive but will more than likely make some rookie mistakes that will cost him…now if he really is generational he will dominate and win the championship in his first year…but realistically I don’t see that happening…

Jett will run at the pace Sexton, and the slowing and somewhat reluctant to ride outdoors Eli, can manage.

People have forgotten Ferrandis, who is as fast as the 23 and 3 when he is on. Jett was running with Dylan three years ago, and I'm sure the #18 hasn't got any slower as he's has become stronger and more experienced. Remember, he's raced MX all his life and is a relative newcomer to SX. MX is his strong suite.

Jett is a very good chance to take the 450 Outdoors in 2023.

Lol “running with ferrandis”…you realize in that season he finished 100 points behind J Mart who finished 2nd, also behind mcelrath, and only 6 points in front of Justin Cooper (you know, his biggest rival since turning pro?)

Then the next supercross season he got smoked by Colt and Craig (guys who are struggling to stay top 10)

21’ outdoors he was 3rd fastest, but Martin and Cooper both sustained injuries handing the title to Jett

22’ he swerved in the air, cleaning out his closet competitor Forkner from the series. That same guy came back from a broken shoulder to beat Jett straight up at least once before the season ended.

Then last outdoors congratulations, he defeated his mentally weak brother and Jo Shimoda who starts last every race. Martin and Cooper both sustained injuries before the season, and by the end Cooper was right back there with Jett fighting for wins.

Look what Justin Cooper is doing in 450, that’s about where Jett will be. My evidence for this is they have battled eachother the whole way through.

Great evidence, since every racer adapts to the 450 in the same exact way

Jett can't  ride a 250 without losing his shit atleast twice a race. The 450 has no forgiveness.

I'm speculating on the Outdoors for 2023, not SX, which is a bit different because of Jett's more limited experience.

In 2020, his first full season, though only 9 rounds because of Covid, he did indeed get beaten by Ferrandis, however by the last round at Pala he was faster, passed him and won the overall.

In 2021 Cooper crashed out unforced and J Mart, by most experts could not run Jett's pace and crashed as a result.

Last Outdoors he beat Cooper by 115 points, and 11 wins to 1, and often came home 30 seconds or more in front. Justin is a fine rider no doubt but the results tell the story.

He also beat Ferrandis, Cooper, Tomac and Sexton heads up when it mattered at MXON. He learns fast and gets on the pace very quickly as he showed. He's big and strong now and will have no trouble holding onto the 450- unlike J Coop who might be a bit small.  No one has stuck a race pass on him since early 2021.

I'll stick with my prediction.Cool

My evidence for this is they have battled eachother the whole way through.

your kidding hahahhahahah

could say the same about every other past 250 championship winner... RC4,JS7,Tomac etc... weak fields, injuries... you don't luck into titles or get given a championship.

And J.Coop only has 4 overall mx wins in his entire career? and them 4 wins was due to him getting the holeshot.

J.Coop. most over rated rider in the sport atm.

26 years age and still wants to race 250's after being forced out

“J.Coop. most over rated rider in the sport atm.“….now there’s a cast….I’m confused we can use Jett’s performance at the MXDN as the proof that he has Eli and Chase covered but we’re going to call JCoop the most overrated rider in the sport after his performance at the MXDN….now there’s some friggin logic there….

no no...im just as confused. People are saying we cant use Jetts MXDN performance as apparently its a team event and individual performances are irrelevant. But in the same sentence say J.coop is superior due to his performance.

If we are happy to praise Jetts 450 results. Ill praise J.coop.

i think both rode amazing btw. including Jcoops ride against a "mentally weak lawrence brother and Jo Shimoda who starts last every race"

Tomac won the first moto. Sexton a J coop placed where they needed to place in moto 2 and moto 3 team USA rode to victory. How hard is that to see. Tomac pushed it enough in moto 1 to win and after home boy took him out in moto 3 rode to a team victory. Am I missing anything, and yes I was there....BRO

i understand all that. my argument is people will praise Jcoop for winning his moto but are against Jett winning his. Then go on to say Jett and Jcoop are the same speed on 450's.

and why are you yelling the word "bro"?

Who said we can’t use Jett’s MXDN performance? And who said JCoop was superior? I don’t think anybody in here even mentioned Cooper until you did. What was said was that  MXDN performances by moto winners hasn’t always transferred into the following season, Jett’s performance does not make him the FMOP…Jett won a moto and his class overall at the MXDN and that is a great result and is promising for the future…but let’s not forget it is one race. Until he proves he has the ability to run with Eli, Chase and Dylan over the entire outdoor season and if he does that he will then deserve the accolades…if he goes out and wins the championship in his first season he will be considered generational…I expect him to be competitive and win some motos and maybe an overall or two…but I also think he will make the mistakes of a 20yr old in his first season on a 450 and I would expect him to finish the season somewhere between 3-5 and that’s if he doesn’t get injured….

Anyone know if HRC has any expectations on Jett's first 450 season?

I'm sure it cant be "win the championship" even though no doubt that's what they would be hoping for....either him or Chase.

MXoN was just one race but the conditions were horrible and Jett rode like a boss.   Jett's my odds on favorite for the 450 title as he is the fastest guy to come along in a long time.  Plus he's under O'Mara's wing ala RC was and we know how that turned out.

Jett's got at least 8 to 10 years in the 450 class and I think it is conceivable he can even top McGrath's 72 SX wins.  Looking forward to the Nationals!

except J.coop was mentioned a few times prior in this conversation by others.

but to your point. completely agree

It is pretty ironic that he was quick to make a comment like that but who else wouldn't say something like that when their brother is out there. I think that's also because he probably shouldn't have been in the booth to begin with considering his brother was out there. Didn't take the time to choose his words wisely....on live TV...

Jett changed his tune the moment he saw the second angle so all of this is a big to do about nothing as far as I am concerned.

Jett was spot on first up about Thrasher and probably got a nudge from someone with less acumen to 'correct'.

Nate later confirmed exactly what Jett said: he was out of control, and by inference Hunter was smarter and faster.

Nates gonna finish ahead of Jett at the shootout.
