Any other Old School Husky 250 Riders out there?
I use to ride a 1972 Husky 250 2 Stroke with a 8 speed gear box!
It had a dual range tranny that had 4 high gears and 4 low gears?

In the low set of gears it was like a billy goat and could climb a wall. Not super fast
but it was super fun!!!

Anyone else remember that bike? I would ride that thing every day after school.

It was a blast!

I had a 390 auto in 78. that bike would have been killer with modern disc brakes.

I raced a 75 250 three times a week in SoCal for two years before switching to new YZ

Had a '70 250cr. Shifted right, 4 speed. All low end, had a stinger the size
of a silver dollar. Back then, when they were made in Sweden, they were the stuff.

I know a guy that has 3 automatics, 80s or 90s, all rough, $2,500 takes all,
if anyone's interested.

Mine also had the right hand shift - I totally forgot about it until you just mentioned it.

The bike road hard but man I could wheelie it all the way down the block and tick off all the neighbors.

I miss that bike!!!

Those were great bikes until the RM was released.

The Husky 390 was a good bike, the one with the clutch. I would ride that now! If I got serious I would breakdown and buy a 2010 Rm450. But then I go nah? no way.

Is it just me or does it feel like they just don't build them like they use to? Those old dirt bikes were heavy, built like a tank, and nearly indestructible. I took a nasty spill on a little CRF 230 a couple of years ago going down a steep gravel left hand single track and it tore the bike apart!

When I use to wipe out on the Husky you could fix it with a hammer! LOL!!!

No a new one is just as strong if not stronger. Go and ride a 2010 bike and call me back in the morning?

maybe so, but, remember the rear tank bolt that scared you every time you sat on it? Or the ignition points and condensor that cried motoplat? And the shifting, more like throwing. But the thing probally did pull stronger and weigh less than today's crop of 4 stroke 250s. When ya think about it, that's funny...............Laughing

I also seemed to have to replace the reed valves frequently. I never did quite figure out why!

Here's as mine sits in the garage. Soon to put a '83 500CR motor in it to go along with the 82 1/5 Sivel Bullet 500CR

bultokid. did you just pick that bike up? I think I saw it for sale recently. I have the exact same bike (my profile has pics of it). Looking for stiffer fork and shock springs as well as pro circuit pipe. Any idea where to look for / find them?

Bulotkid, my Dad has the same thing going on. He has his orginal 83 500 XC that we took the motor out of and put it in the 250 CR chassis. He says he can't tell which chassis he likes better. I do have a little info for you, the left side plastic won't fit right with the larger pipe from the 500. We both race vintage mx here in Missouri and we are in the process of putting the 250 motor back together. I plan on selling my 250 and buying his Husky. It is definately a cool bike to look at, thanks!!
