When he was in the tunnel at Tampa and saw the rain coming down he was so over it. He looked like he decided right then just to get through the night without taking any risks. To me it was a veteran move but could it have implications for what is sure to be a close finish? Also, I wonder if the crash in Houston has him thinking a little differently.
Seems like we are about to have a epic battle with Cooper, Chase and Eli. Does Eli want it enough at this point in his career?
Poll
You come up with all that just from the look on his face on TV, no wonder Vitards are laughed at.
He’s seen more hungry than ever since last year. One off race and people start writing him off straight away 🙄
Barring injury it won’t be all that close at the last round.
Yep - laugh at me too. When I saw that on TV all I saw was wanting to get through the night without a problem. Though with the camera pointed at anyone after the rain started that would probably be what I would project the rider is thinking. Except maybe AP.

Didn't that dude win the two most recent mudders (San Diego '19 and SLC '20)?
Two years ago he would have been outside the top ten, 2023 is a 5th. He's fine.
It's Tomacs title.
Personally, I'd like to see Webb win it again. Looks like Webb is catching fire....and true to form, tons of people on Vital discounting him.
I saw it too, although I don’t think it was a look of concern for the championship, just the race. I think he knew this was going to have to be a “bad” day.
Eli is so good that if he doesn't win one race, people start asking why. I doubt Eli has to look too hard to get more wins and along with that, keep his red plate. Reed, Stewart, RC,a nd RV were all beasts in Supercross, but even they had off nights.
Yep, I remember when his "bad" races were actually bad!
Exactly... the disappointed look on his face was that it wasn't raining more... he was hoping for an easy win.
If Webb wins the next race I'll do another poll.
Right now it's 144 votes for Eli, 22 for Chase and 18 for Cooper. As Leigh Diffey said when Cooper was on the podium, "That's a dangerous smile."
If it comes down to Tomac vs. Sexton, I think Tomac will win it again. I see Webb getting better, but he still hasn't shown me anything which I think is a championship-winning ride. This weekend may tell us more and perhaps I'll change my mind.
Anyone questioning Tomac on Vital is SURE to get slaughtered with downvotes, but i trust the OP is used to them...
Eli is on top of his game, and probably wasn't into it that night, but i'd like to Coop pull this one out (and gave his 38th vote). Unless Chase cleans up the little mistakes he'll finish 3rd. Bring on the downs!
Well, well, Cooper has overtaken Chase.
Tomac- 259
Cooper- 47
Chase- 36
Roger pulled some strings again....
I feel like he was sick or hiding an injury at the last round. Instead of using it as an excuse, like most do. He gave what he had that day and left. He is Eli Tomac, he didn’t ride like he did because of the weather.
Remember this thread?
It ended up...
Votes:
Eli- 309
Cooper-58
Chase- 46
