Only guy who has landed a backflip and won a heat race since Travis Pastrami

Yep, and Brian Swink.. In 1991 Swink won the first Supercross race he entered in Orlando, along with winning 4 more rounds that year including the East SX Championship.

That one for sure cost him a lot of money, but as long as he can live with himself and has no regrets, that's what matters.

He's another guy on the "what if" list.

I think he is doing great but back to the thread title, all that looking around seems “dangerous” to me.

RC went 11, 19, 1, 6, 1 his first year in SX. It does show that his first race was a west round then he raced the east series. Maybe the rules were different back then.

CR was 17, 6, 5, 8.
KW 3, 2, 3, 3.
Jeremy McGrath 11, 8, 2, 8.

Not all the greats started off winning everything.

How about his dad? Brian Deegen 20, 16, 10, 15. So he’s starting off better then his old man.

The vast majority of proven riders that have went on to win lots of races and Championships do not have a pro debut with (2) 4th place finishes and a heat win in their first 2 races.

So these people with the "call me when he has" done what Canard or AC has done is very revealing about what is motivating their scoffing attitude.

It’s hard to deny his speed and determination, But he reminds me of Ferrandis first season.

No rookie on the current gate has had the same amount of SX prep that Haiden. He has had a private SX track since he was on 65’s and has been training SX with the Star guys for two seasons now.

He can ride SX really well and go through the track without any problems. The problem i see is his overly agressive riding, wasting much energy and making plenty of small misstakes with it.

those misstakes don’t come from lack of ability on the bike, they come from over riding.

If he tames it down he will probably become faster, and you could clearly see that Hunter lost his paitience with Haidens type of riding last night.

He will probably end up hurt soon if he not clean up his riding.

Sounds like you are describing a 17 year old making his debut season, two races in, of the AMA Professional SX series.

His haters seem to hate where he comes from. Money. And his amateur results aided with said money.
Hes definitely fast and talented. No doubt about it. Houston 4th was partially luck. Tampa he earned it straight up and even gave Hunter some grief.

Yes I'm well aware of that. What I intended as obvious sarcasm went way over people's heads.

He figures out the whoops and minimizes his minor mistakes, he’s going to be running with Hunter easily.  He has next level corner speed that I also saw this weekend aside from his viral clip last weekend. I kept waiting for him to throw it away, and he just stayed solid. He’s only going to get faster every race.  I’m stoked with what he’s given us.

You seem to be right about the reasons for the disdain but the ironic fault with that thinking is that everyone that makes it to where young Deegan is at, certainly the overwhelming majority, have not got money flow problems and they have been training and competing since childhood.

The kid is doing amazingly well, and the results thus far don't fall off the turnip truck.  That is it. Period. He has worked his ass off for it. Good for the young lad.

If deegan ever has a bad race or has a crash.

I hope all his fans say yup. 16th best guy 2night.. and not make up excuses.

Coz if others crash and it allows him to earn a 4th instead of a 7th. No1 is allowed to say he was 7th best and things fell his way 2 night and allowed him to finish a few spots higher then he prob should. You have to say he was 4th best or your a hater.

So when he has a bad race or a tip over from 3rd. No excuses. He wasn't 3rd best that night if not for a mistake. Own it and say ohhh 15th best tonight. Or it's just double standards.

And honestly. It's best to be true to your self. Believe you were 7th best and got lucky. Coz that will allow you to be better. To learn. Even when you win you have to identify your weakness to become better. To improve.

I'm pretty certain that nobody has stated or even implied that Deegan is infallible.

Many people are very impressed with Deegan and believe that he will be a future star, frequent winner and likely a Champion,..while others have expressed a disdain with either Deegan himself or disdain for those people that are impressed by him and have predicted him to be highly successful.

Why is it soo important to you that people accept a 15th place finish from him without mentioning that he ran up front most of the race before falling if that is what happened?

I don’t know, maybe give the kid a season, indoor and out, and then see what’s up.

But after reading some of this thread, I’m sure this makes me a hater.

Considering the pressure he's under it's impressive that he maintained his cool the last two weekends. He took what was earned without getting greedy. He didn't roll over for Hunter. And that heat win was huge.

Deegan fans are not allowing anyone to analyse his results with any sort of negativity.

Fans can't have it both ways.

So if on a good day if riders crashing around him is irrelevant and 4th is the result he earned.

Then on a bad day fans shouldn't say of if it wasn't for his mistake he would have been 4th. Nah he tiped over got 15th and that's it.

I just don't get how saying he capitalised on others mistakes to get from 7th to 4th is hating. Its factually analysing. And not sugar coating the results.

Can you show an example of his fans not allowing analysis?

His fastest lap this week was around 6th fastest and quite a bit off Hunter. He has a ways to go with his speed. But he gets good starts and keeps mistakes to a minimum. Not sure he's made too many passes either. It's not like he's James Stewart out there but it does look like he can get faster.

What I'm asking again is,..Why is it soo important to you that someone not mention that he ran up front most of the race before a get-off to finish 15th,. If that is what happened ??

Think about the question a few moments.
