Hot take of the day....
I think the helmet saved him from injury.
I didn't think the crash was bad at all on him. However, look at the instant replay from the broadcast, the angle that shows the right side of Eli. When he initially hit, his helmet stopped and jerked in a very sharp and articulate manner on top of the table. Those little jerks are responsible for an incredibly high percentage of concussions in all sports, so I think if he were in a heavier Japanese built helmet, we could have a new points leader.
Props to Companies like Fly, Alpinestars, Bell and 6D for setting new heights in Linear, Angular and Rotational impact absorption.
That is pure speculation. Clearly the bell did a great job but to say that he would be out if he was a Shoei athlete is kinda silly man. You have no idea, neither do I.
I think the tuff blocks were where they should be . . . But, Doubtful Tomac even crashes if they are not there.

Lol!
Not superior but maybe feeling too comfy and hot has a kind of dark side.
For some reasons, I knew the crash was coming. He got very lucky. Lesson learned. You learn all your life.
And stew when he ran into the back of JT.
I think him getting up quickly and back in the race is pretty solid confirmation he's ok.
Are you saying my helmet is too old?
No….just the angle his visor looked after he rolled off the tough block. Every time I saw a Bieffe helmet back in the day it looked odd with the visor pushed so far down. In the replay it caused me to have a sudden flashback to those helmets.
I’ve been wearing that helmet since 1988. My visor is crooked too.
And I bet your neck is all jacked up from trying to see more than your gas tank…
WFO all the time.
Damn he hit his head quite hard. Glad he is ok, not really something you see him do often.. having such a crash. Can't recall the last time he had a get-off like that. Like someone mentioned, maybe monster cup few years ago?
Yeah, strange how he jumped clear off the track yet his head landed on it, lol. Big fan of Bell Helmets.
Did he take that outside line any lap prior to the crash? One lesson from this is back off a little the first time you try a new line during a race.
I don't think 2022 Tomac would have tried to rail that outside line right then. He would have been happy to wait it out a little longer and maybe settle for 2nd or 3rd on the night. But when you have won the first two races it puts different ideas in your head.
Pit Row
Don’t quote me but I don’t think so. I was there in person and couldn’t tell but I thought Eli mentioned in an interview that he was hitting it from the inside the times prior. He then switched outside bc Webb was taking the inside and didn’t account for the drift lol
Webb will blow up soon trying to match Tomac's pace like Houston a few years ago. Ditto with Sexton's pace. Tomac crashed because the first tuff block he hit was Webb. No one has anything to match Tomac and Sexton's pace right now. Webb always played the bitch move with Tomac. Right now, the two best riders are Tomac and Sexton then if he calms down I would say Anderson 3, Webb 4, Roczen 5, Ferrandis 6. I think Plessinger could be 5. I m waiting to see how Webb does on very dry dirt.
