2008 Suzuki Rmz 450 Won’t Start.

2008 Suzuki Rmz 450 Won’t start, full rebuilt on the motor including valves, head, etc, bike is setup as a snow bike right now ran perfectly fine it ran out of fuel when I was done riding fueled it up and didn’t start after that, checked all connections, fuel line, injector was dirty cleaned that out, took the fuel pump out put on a new filter, tried and still the same thing, but when you spray starting fluid and try to start it runs for a second and shuts off. Thanks in advance.

Hook a m12 battery up to the fuel pump and see if it runs and squirts fuel. If it does then take the injector out and hook 12v to it and put some break clean through it and make sure it squirts through. If either don’t then they need to be replaced.

Fuel pump no sound whatsoever, injector makes a clicking sound.

Check the pins on the fuel pump to the looming connector, they fail all the time

Worth the simple stuff like double checking the ECU ground is clean and snugged down properly and all connections are good, if you have had the bike apart recently. Is it fresh fuel if you have had the bike sat / engine rebuilt?

Assuming you have a decent spark, you have compression and you're confident that mechanically the engine is still as it should be and you start looking at fuelling...

Not to be paranoid, but just because an injector squirts *something* out doesn't mean it is adequate or correct. Validate your fuel pressure first, to rule out a lazy / dying pump (assuming it is working).

If you get to a point where you are genuinely looking at the injector as a real suspect, have it tested by somewhere with a legit injector tester for spray pattern and flow. It may be easier or cheaper to just grab a new one *IF* you reach that stage.

Just some food for thought, sure others will have useful suggestions.

If you hook a 12v battery to the fuel pump directly and it does nothing then That’s your problem. It should turn on and shoot fuel out of the line. The clicking on the injector is indication it’s opening. You can also check the pump with a ohm meter. If the reading is open or infante then it’s bad. Idk what the reading should be for a normal one but you should get at least some sorer of ohm reading.

Yes, after rebuild I rode the bike about 7 to 8 hours ran perfect, until I ran out of fuel, filled that up still nothing I’m trying to figure out the fuel issue, all connections have been checked.

I am NOT an expert but in my experience...most fuel pumps do not like to run "dry"... especially older pumps.  It probably just died from age and trying to operate while empty.
