Anyone have visibility on what Dylan's contract value was?

Recent MXP article stating new contract likely makes him the highest paid ever in Canada.

MXP Quote:

"Yes, Dylan did receive sizeable offers from the KTM and Kawasaki teams here in Canada as well as a couple of offers outside of Canada but in the end Dylan made the choice to stay with GDR. The deal we signed likely makes him the highest-paid rider ever in Canada so that is great for him moving forward and well deserved with his accomplishments to date."

No clue, wouldn’t be surprised if it was $100k championship bonus, $70-100k base and $5k a win.

That’s if the highest paid Canadian ever is true. I heard Facciotti had $200-250k years.

Certainly not bad considering you referenced someone making $35k all in for a top 5.

Well it’s sad, but yeah.

But no different than Tomac making ~~~$3-4 million last year in SX alone while a guy like Malcolm made ~~~$300k.

Canada has a more significant drop off in pay outside the champ, but it’s always been that way.

but again, my $35k all in top 5 rider is a guaranteed no speculation number. While my last post is COMPLETE speculation going fully off being highest paid guy ever (which could be bs). I was under inpression Dylan made $130-150k all in this year.

Also you seem very hung up on the $35k figure.

You realize Dylan makes what he makes because he wins the championship. Which is the largest bonus available to a rider. Plus wins every single round. The second largest bonus available in the series. If he got 3-5 all year and didn’t win a single race he’s have made nowhere near what he made (which I heard was somewhere between 130-150).  Probably closer to $50-70k.

Not a single rider in the 450 class cleared $70k last year other than Wright. Once you get outside top 5, every single guy pays to race. But the money 3-5 is nowhere remotely close to Dylan. You’d be talking 30-50k IF they are on a team that pays bonuses and salary.

During 2015 - 2017, Canadian Moto got a solid “shot in the arm”…

2015 - Enter Sandman…

Thanks to the folks at Rockstar & André Laurin of OTSFF Motorsports, Matt Goerke went to Canada with a cast on his arm and an EXCELLENT contract in his pocket. He won a fair amount of races and the title that year. The following year his contract was even better. Note: during the winter of 2015…BEFORE going to Canada, Matt actually rode for Monster Kawasaki in AX…it was a helluva year! Matt must have some really good peeps writing his contracts! Laughing

2016 - Mas KTM Americana

The boss at KTM, North America offered to let Davi Milsaps race “outdoors” in Canada; but, with many…hell, most of the “conditions” of his U.S. contract. BOOM! “Big Time Money Money, Get Some!” Davi won a fair share of the races ($$$) & The Title (Big $$$).

2017 - The bosses at KTM, N.A. struck again…with Pourcel. This was kinda cool because we got to take Bobby Hewitt to some Real Canadian Motocross races and remind him how fun racing could be. Good times. Especially when it came to beating Christophe’s whiny ass for the title! 💪🏼🇺🇸

Those 3 years and the riders involved REALLY gave the “price of a Canadian championship” a nice boost.

Now, I could be wrong on some of this; but, I’m not.

Canada Moto is amazing.

Yup exactly.

If you are “the guy” the championship bonuses and win bonuses add up. Both are not bad at all for a 10 round series.

But nowadays, outside of the “guy” money is tough…

The last year of 3-4 6 figure guys was the Metty, Goerke, Facciotti, Alessi year (14 I think).

now we have one..

Basically most of our highest paid guys as of late have been Americans. And we haven’t had many high earners since they stopped coming up

Covid is what did our series in for the most part, but it will recover. If Bogle ends up coming up that’s the first step. We have a GREAT TV package. We just need outside riders (GP or AMA) guys to legitimize the series again.

Russian Bob was coming for last year but it didn’t work out. Bogle would be a good addition.

The big issue now will be WSX unfortunately. But I seriously think our series is an amazing experience that B level Americans need to experience. It will be good to get Clason back. The more names, the better. .

What's your connection to sport btw?

Since Covid no inside connection other than sponsoring a few friends and few come to my boxing gym I own for training. I raced a lot of the privateer guys and guys just getting rides now so I am friends with a lot of the guys.

Few years ago I was a lot more involved as my families business was doing more within the series with deals and stuff.

I’ve actually hung out with Manny (teamgreen) a few times when he was around up here (Rockstar OTSFF days)

I earned over 100k last year all in. I would imagine Maff cleared 70 too. Have good bonuses put it solid results you can make money in Canada

That’s awesome. I heard $70k. I guess it didn’t get as bad as I had thought after Covid.

I’m happy to admit being wrong. But other than you 3, the money isn’t close to those figures

I would have to think that Pettis probably cleared $70k too. But you're right, after that it falls off a cliff sadly.

Pettis I didn’t include because he was hurt all year and I’m not sure what his injury clause looks like. But he’s a 6 figure easily on a decent yr. I think that’s why he’s doing what DW did and is focusing on Canada only.

I hope Ward gets a good deal and the Bogle situation doesn’t screw him. Either way sounds like SSR has that offer on table for him

Pettis is in the last year of his contract so he can't afford to sit out another season with injuries. Not racing SX limits that risk. It sucks because he has the skills to be mixing it up in the top 10. It would be great to see what he could do on a Club MX type program down South.

He needs to put in some results this year.

Yup definitely.

I’m hoping he challenges Wright this year, as I think a healthy Pettis is capable.

I think on a ClubMX type deal he’s a 5-10 guy on either coast. His issue is never speed, just staying healthy.

I think we are in for a seriously good season this year.

I'm not sure what to think as far as the season goes.

I think it'll be similar to what we saw last year. Barring injury, I don't see anyone winning the title other than Wright. He'll be coming in 100% healthy for the first time in 2 or 3 years. So, I think he'll be even better than what we've seen. Add in the extra confidence from last year's phenomenal season, and I think that spells trouble for everyone else.

Even if Bogle ends up coming up here, I don't think he'll be walking away with the title. I'm not hating either. That's just reality. Now, if this was Bogle from several years ago, maybe.

I think Savatgy would be a better match, but that is most likely not the same kind of money as Bogle.

The most interesting thing to me is Benoit on the 250SX. I'm really looking forward to that.

Agree, Benoit is definitely what I am looking forward to most. The 250 class IMO is going to be class to watch again.

Bogle no way walks away from Wright on our tracks. The RCH Bogle would but current Bogle no way. I just think he adds eyes.

The only Wright story line is one knee is a tough recovery, 2 at once is real tough. He’s so many levels above I think it doesn’t make a difference but it’s somewhat a storyline. Like you said, he could be EVEN better…

I would be willing to bet 10 bucks in Canadian dollars that Bogle would not win a single overall.

I agree in the current stage of his career it ain’t happening. Impossible? No. Extremely unlikely? Yes.

I think up here the whole top 5 of Wright, Tdags, Pettis, Ward, Maff would have a lot for him. That’s why I think Kawi should sign Ward. He’s proven. He had a great rookie year. If his knee is 90% by race time, I think he’s a podium threat all year. He shouldn’t be sitting contract-less right now after the year he had.

Well not entirely true, he did get to race round one in Kamloops. But it was all down hill from there unfortunately. I really hope he has a good year this season.

If anyone can challenge Wright it’s Pettis . Going to be tough over the course of a season , but I think he has the speed to race with him . My real interest is the 250s with McNabb and Piccolo switching teams .

In addition to McNabb and Piccolo - adding Harrison, Benoit, Amyotte, Natzke, Blackmer and Racine should make for an interesting 250 class.

Other notables - Masciangelo, Kerr, Rempel, Scott, Benek, Canela

250 class is stacked.
