All I wear are Tech 7’s, however my next boot purchase I plan to be some 10’s as I’m becoming a faster rider and feel I could use them. We’ll see how long they last

Some pros run the Tech 7's. I know Jr. Hill uses 7's and so do I.

I tried 7s out a few years ago. Not enough stiffness in the sole for over jumping things. Unless you have the timing and skill of Hill I'd stay away from them. I gave mine away and bought SG 12s and I'm happy with them other than the fact that my wide feet hurt if I walk in them too much. Never tried tech 10s, but had older tech 8s. Also I did not vote because I don't know enough about the tech 10s, and this concept should be applied to more important polls as well like blonds vs redheads or real boobs vs fake boobs....

I don’t understand how people kill the soles on tech 10’s so quick. I have around100hrs on mine with propegs and they still aren’t worn though.

I do consciously work on riding with my toes pointed in and when I use the controls I try to lift my foot to the control and then lift it back to the correct position on the peg and not drag it back and forth like a cheese grater. Not to conserve my soles but that it gives you better control.

The soft pad on the inside of the ankle is worn off but with grip on the frame it doesn’t bother me.  The only thing I don’t like is that the entire sole isn’t replaceable. Some of the wear on mine is in front of the replaceable part. I always struggled with brake and shifter feel and up shifting while standing with my old old boots including the original tech 10’s. Never had that problem with my new ones. I don’t have allot of money but I’d rather have to replace my boots a little more frequently and have them work as well as they do..

What’s your size, age, and riding discipline/ability? Not everyone puts the same demands on boots. I maybe would have kept my tech 10’s if there were some inserts available for my size at some point in the last few years, but they were nowhere to be found. I used to replace inserts myself at home in a couple hours. I had a $600 pair of boots that had to be resoled fully twice before 25 hours of use. That’s $100 to ship them each time plus the cost of the resole. I had $1000 into a pair of boots I wore for 25 hours tops. Sold them for $300 and moved on.

Ultimate support and style: Tech 10

Durability and Temperature of your feet in the summer: SG-12

I have both and this is my conclusion. My favorite is the SG-12 because that’s what makes me happy but I can see why someone would choose the Tech 10 for sure.

Have you tried the vented tech 10's?  I wonder how well they vent and if the vents cause any issues?  They are another option if you want more airflow.

Two things I noticed going from from T10 to Gaerne.

1) HUUUUGE increase in vibration coming through the boot.  I ride a 2 stroke, with A* I didn't notice any vibration at all, the Gaerne almost make my feet go numb.

2) Cushioning inside the boot - my T10s felt almost molded to my feet, but still felt cushy inside, almost like a pair of runners.  My Gaerne's feel like I'm standing on a piece of plywood.

I just bought tech 10’s. They are very comfortable boots. Once I figure out which bike I am buying and get to riding I can give more of an opinion. Don’t think you could go wrong with either boot. From what I’ve read, SG-12’s seem to last forever and are very durable.

39, 175lb intermediate..wear a size 11. I don't doubt some people are harder on boots than others...Only getting 11hrs out of a pair of soles seems strange though, especially since mine are still going at 100hrs. Maybe they had a bad batch or something...

I’m about 35 lbs heavier than you, 37 y/o expert size 13. I also stand a lot. I can see why mine would wear faster, but 10-12 hours on soles is unacceptable. What model year are yours? They made the soles softer again in ‘21.

2020's I believe..going to resole them sooner than later so will see if the resoles last as long..

I was probably getting around 25 hours on that model of soles, but I could usually find inserts for them. I’ve always been hard on boots.

I switched to Sidi after being very disappointed with the soles on the ‘21+ Tech10s and I’m never going back. Would recommend Gaerne over A-stars as well, but I went with SIDI for the cheap and easy sole replacement.

How many hours do you get on a set of Sidi replaceable soles?

Did you guys have issues with the previous generation tech10s wearing quick? My soles are getting beat but I have a ton of time on the boots. I'm due for a new pair this upcoming season and might just have to try a pair of Gs.

I have to say, out of all the boots I have had over the years, my tech 10s are by far the most comfortable.

Back in 06 when I was on my brand new RMZ450 (best bike ever), my tech 10s lasted 2-3 motos max.

totally unacceptable but I can definitely understand why. I’m +30 expert, 37 y/o, 215 lbs, 5foot4inches. I also stand a lot. I have podiumed a gncc before so take that with a grain of salt.

ps - not sure if any of you know but I’m size 13 so I’m sure that has something to do with it

you got some big ass feet for a short dude.

No way you would burn through a pair of boots in 2-3 motos.

I have probably close to 100hrs on my tech 10s that I bought in 2017 and they didn’t break down or fall apart at all. They do have way to much flex in them after that amount of hours though.. so much that I won’t wear them anymore

Around 30. Nice part is the replacements are cheap and can be changed out with 4 screws.

I wish Alpinestars would make the replacement insert under the balls of my feet instead of the arches. The inserts on my Tech 7's have no wear.

I might need your assistance. I've got to worry about: BobPA, Amilky112, Dcorbett62, Norcal, Stark guys, Micheal Lindsey, and dicks that work for the government.
