No offense taken as I'm trying to only allow loved ones♥ to offend me.... and we're not quite there yet. However I am responsive in nature.

My 2 ¢...

The only part of my comment Honda related was of the PowerValve/cylinder castings of the bike featured in this thread...

Not sure where you pulled my "huge" word from. The whole paragraph is based on KTM's shared platform. Sorry if I did not type my thoughts clear enough. But like you said I have a point.

I know of your product inside and out as well. Good stuff. We've had two of your 500AFs in our stable and one made by a local Alloy Welding shop via a '98 engine and a '06 CRF250 frame and after fixing Honda's De-tuning via the transfers, cylinder liner and head mods, they were all enjoyable bikes. Even easy to service. I loved the way the cylinder and head would fit right through the top of the frame as if it was made for it originally. (now that is preaching to the choir)

Quick questions? Honda must be running out of ML3 and MAC parts or do they fire up the tooling to make more?

Good day.

Cygnus, quick test.

#1) If you had one bucket that held two-gallons of water and one bucket that held one gallon of water, how many buckets would you have?

Here is an easier one, multiple choice.

#2) I am on this thread because;

A) I like to read what smart people type

Cool I am a moto head like the rest of us

C) I am a fan of two-stroke engines

D) I hate Winnie the Poo

E) All of the above

mr moto,
its all good..

and yeap Honda detuned the 500 certainly thru the years.,.
easy to fix..Smile

on parts-
yes Honfa still fires up the ML3 / MAC parts !!
ive run them out of certain ones severat times oiver the last decade..
no problem they make more!
at one point recently they lost the cylinder molds , and made new ones,
so their committment to ongoing parts supply is good.
Since the engine remained fundemtally the same for many years there's quite a few running about thw world,,so parts demand is somewhat predictable and steady for Honda.?

Its the normal position but the lowboy pegs make it seem high. Worked fine for me Smile

That bike was mostly the result of "what to do while i'm in a wheelchair for 2 months".

Broken pelvis and hip Smile All is ok now that was back in 2006. Full recovery thanks to the great UNM trauma center in Albuquerque New Mexico. Few plates bolts and screws and I'm good as new.

I don't have my bike anymore. Hard times right now, but hopefully I'll start over again soon. I just can't afford to have that injury or something like it happen again right now I'm trying to get into a design school in California and learn product design for athletics wear and gear.

Good to hear you are out of the chair.... Good luck with Design school.... Your choice in radiator hose color is surely a prerequisite to athletic gear. Nice bike otherwise.. I have an '07, mostly stock other than suspension valving and muffler.

Your work is awesome AJ, love the CR250. Why go with the '01 engine though? To me that's a good example of an engine that ran better in people's memory than it actually did. The case reed one felt a lot sleepier, but it always felt stronger overall to me.

That KX250 is perfect.
I've rode them back to back, I got an 05 CR and 01 CR and I like the 01 way better. The electronic powervalve is awful and powerband is narrow on the 05. Thats just my opinion. Silly

Good to hear that Honda supports the beast and your work well. I saw Chuck Sun's write-up... actually that is what made me buy the magazine. Still I think the best was when Everts kicked ass on one.. Was that yours or Honda's?
Man, CR250s and CR500s do run well and carry gears much farther when done right...
