Why doesn't Barcia train with Baker?

Going into his third year at GasGas, I'm kind of surprised JB hasn't ended up at Baker's Factory yet. Why wouldn't he take the opportunity to try that program, is there a restriction?

Noise ordinance prohibits riders that bounce off the rev limiter constantly from training there.Laughing

It's the safest thing for their other riders, they want Webb and Marv ect to make it to A1

Mosiman was there for ages.

But he started there when he was on husky.

He stayed there when he was on gasgas till Will hahn joined. Then he left to train with Will.

No idea where brown has ever trained.

Also the old TLD KTM team was where Aldon started working with 250 riders, I believe.

Barcia is usually in pretty good shape, no need for him to go there IMO.

Maybe he figures he has it handled and doesn't need to spend the cash.

He runs through trainers like he does teams? He's changed teams one more time than Tomac has, and he's only been a pro one year longer than Eli. And to the best of my knowledge, he's only trained with Sheetmetal (his old mechanic at JGR) and Wilbur (and he stopped training with Wil when he moved back to Florida).

I can't think of too many times I've seen Barcia drop anchor in a moto. He doesn't fade much from what I can tell.

Barcia doesn't seem like the type that would benefit from having some little guy in his ear all day and a day to day contest with other riders.
He's been pro since 2009, so he doesn't need to learn how to ride a bike or how to train. He needs to come into the season with a clear head, relaxed, and ready to race forward every lap of every round

Barcia doesn't need a trainer, he needs a riding coach. I know that's hilarious coming from some guy on Vital, but it's honestly kinda frustrating to see someone at that level lose so much time making sloppy mistakes and over-riding the bike

I think his riding has been really good the last few seasons. Really great footwork on the bike and very centered neutral riding position. So I disagree, I don't think he needs a riding coach at all. He just seems to get flustered when he's battling in the pack with riders he feels he is "better" than. If anything the guy needs a mental coach to work on racing forward and focusing on himself when he is deep in traffic

I agree a mental coach could help him too, but I still see him standing his bike up in the corners and coming in to them too hot, and his feet coming off the pegs a lot, and him clearly riding in too low of a gear sometimes and using too much clutch. I'm sure someone like DV could see a ton of mistakes he makes, but that's just some obvious ones that I've noticed.

Didn't he try riding a gear up, and reving the bike less when he was on the Yamaha? I remember reading something on Racer X about this.

Standing up deeper into the corner and keeping the feet on the pegs is the more modern riding style. You don't really see the best riders sitting down way early and sticking their leg out coming into the corner anymore. Barcia has been nailing this new riding style for the most part. I wouldn't read too deeply into whether he is abusing the clutch or using it improperly to take away power at the apex of the corner. Everyone at that level will be abusing the clutch in a SX race as the track deteriorates. Riding without the clutch completely will put them at more risk of stalling. They have extra clutch plates

Has he? I don't think Barcia rides like that at all. Tomac, Sexton and Roczen are the ones that have nailed that style. Regardless, what I meant was he is standing the bike up sometimes by coming into the corners too hard and losing momentum.

Don't forget just how hard the sport really is. Yeah given he doesn't have as much raw speed or as few errors as the riders mentioned on most nights. The sport is still really, really hard to do at all, let alone 25 or more laps on a rutted and deteriorating track. Its something like trying to jump rope while standing on a swiss ball.

Great riders, you're right they probably had the "modern" style, well definitely Everts. But they weren't throwing their hat in the ring every weekend at what we now call the modern deathcross

Current riders wouldn't want him there. They get a say in who joins.

All I have to say about him is the corner to jump at 4:08 is ludicrous fast.

Love BAM TV.....that was a good one.      Cool to see JB being a dad....and what a fun/cool dad he's gonna be.

The "doll" footage was a riot.

You're not a fan of the sport if you don't enjoy watching his vids.

JB is the perfect person to represent GasGas.

A couple of times last season Webb passed him late moto. You can be how fit you want when you ride like Barcia, you will fade during the moto.
