Scott Sepkovic is his manager and someone who should have kept tighter controls on many things in regards to Jason over the last couple years, but this situation is a blazing spotlight on what people call "managers" in this industry.
A REAL PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE MANAGER, like you find with professional athletes (Drew Rosenhaus comes to mind), would have already had a prepared statement written and delivered to the media prior to it getting to this point, instead of one paragraph "it has come to our attention" articles within the media. The fact that calls from the media in regards to the client (Jason) are not being returned is another example of the unprofessionalism of rider managers in MX. This is NOT the first time this has happened in this sport, where a rider has an on or off track incident and it is just ignored by their management, leaving media and fans to guess and internet forums to run wild with speculation.
I am going to catch shit for this and I know it, my phone will ring, emails will come in and some will ignore me in the future, I know this and expect it, because that is how it goes in MX on the "professional" side.
But reality is, there are managers who are little more than people with friends and a few connections they use to network and call/beg favors for their clients. Few, if any of them, are lawyers, have any real world experience outside of MX or any type of college degree in sports management.
A REAL MANAGER would be a professional and represent their clients in a professional manner, not hide from the phone or ignore situations hoping that it just goes away.
Industry people bitch about the internet and how people come up with all these wild and crazy stories and theories.....well, guess who's fault that is? It's the fault of those who keep mum on everything and aren't effectively communicating fact and reality to the masses.
You riders want to stop all the stupid rumors about you? Maybe you should look into how a real manager performs their job.
Rosenhaus once said (Paraphrasing) "If one of my clients get in trouble, they are told to call me before they call anyone else, before they call their wife, mom or coach, even if it's 2am, you call ME. I will get your bail paid, get you picked up from the jail, on a private jet out of town if necessary and have a press release out before the sun rises and anyone knows it even happened"
Jason's management should be controlling this message, not this thread or forum
[/RANT]
There is no replacement for good, prefessional representation if you are a professional athlete. A good manager is worth every dime he gets paid.

If you're out there, take a good look at Dave's message in this thread. He's one of the few that will be put good advice out there, all while risking potential business inside the industry.
How many others do you see breaking down the B.S., and trying to help others while possibly hurting themselves from a personal and business stand point?
Answer - None.
How ironic would it be if he is placed at that jail/facility/camp next to Glen Helen?
he told me something that made me look at ex cons a little differently last year at A1. he said "bob, there are a lot of good people in prison, sometimes better people than the people not in prison". I asked what he meant and he said "a lot of people snitched and sold out to reduce or eliminate their sentence...those people are way worse than the ones that didn't sell out and took their lumps".
very true...so true.
