Seems a bit harsh to me, I feel bad for him. Ive heard a few jail stories and it wont be fun thats for sure. Seems there are far more dangerous people out there that deserve to be behind bars more than him thats for sure. Once he adapts to prison life he can use it in his favor but the potential is also there to mix with the wrong crowd and end up worse. I don't think that will happen though. He knows why hes on this planet and thats to Race!

fuck racing

getting his life out of the gutter and focusing on being a reasonable and decent person able to function in society will needs to be his first priority from today.

bike racing is low on the priority scale at this point.
Didnt think I needed to say that. If you want to do what your good at and Race obviously the latter needs to be inline. Thats a given. Cant have one with out other. Thats why hes in this mess.

Ive got a mate that did 3 months in an Australian Jail. He accidently spilt another inmates milk at breakfast on one of his first days, didnt think much of it. The guy that had his milk spilt stabbed him the next morning at breakfast with a peice of fencing wire with no warning at all. He thought he got punched at first. it just missed his spine. That was just one of his stories. Must be easier in the USA I guess.

I would like to make one very clear point in regards to all of this and it has less to do with Jason and more with his representation.

Scott Sepkovic is his manager and someone who should have kept tighter controls on many things in regards to Jason over the last couple years, but this situation is a blazing spotlight on what people call "managers" in this industry.

A REAL PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE MANAGER, like you find with professional athletes (Drew Rosenhaus comes to mind), would have already had a prepared statement written and delivered to the media prior to it getting to this point, instead of one paragraph "it has come to our attention" articles within the media. The fact that calls from the media in regards to the client (Jason) are not being returned is another example of the unprofessionalism of rider managers in MX. This is NOT the first time this has happened in this sport, where a rider has an on or off track incident and it is just ignored by their management, leaving media and fans to guess and internet forums to run wild with speculation.

I am going to catch shit for this and I know it, my phone will ring, emails will come in and some will ignore me in the future, I know this and expect it, because that is how it goes in MX on the "professional" side.

But reality is, there are managers who are little more than people with friends and a few connections they use to network and call/beg favors for their clients. Few, if any of them, are lawyers, have any real world experience outside of MX or any type of college degree in sports management.

A REAL MANAGER would be a professional and represent their clients in a professional manner, not hide from the phone or ignore situations hoping that it just goes away.

Industry people bitch about the internet and how people come up with all these wild and crazy stories and theories.....well, guess who's fault that is? It's the fault of those who keep mum on everything and aren't effectively communicating fact and reality to the masses.

You riders want to stop all the stupid rumors about you? Maybe you should look into how a real manager performs their job.

Rosenhaus once said (Paraphrasing) "If one of my clients get in trouble, they are told to call me before they call anyone else, before they call their wife, mom or coach, even if it's 2am, you call ME. I will get your bail paid, get you picked up from the jail, on a private jet out of town if necessary and have a press release out before the sun rises and anyone knows it even happened"

Jason's management should be controlling this message, not this thread or forum

There is not one word of this statement (RANT) that is not TRUE. All up-and-coming youngsters aspiring to be professional MX racers need to read and understand every single word of flarider's statement.

There is no replacement for good, prefessional representation if you are a professional athlete. A good manager is worth every dime he gets paid.

Good point, it won't keep all the rumors and stories run wild but it would certainly help keep the majority of it away

consider prisons more like colleges for criminals....tons of violence, gangs, drugs, politics and manipulation going on inside those places - even the smaller ones.

if he's smart, he'll try to take advantage of any self-development programs they offer him inside, stay away from drugs, and come out a better person.

chances are he wont, though, but who knows...

Real prison is not like a movie where everyone is high on herion, getting raped and killing for the gang. Prison-jail is just like anywhere else in life, you get out of it what you put in, if you look for trouble youll find it. If you keep your mouth shut, youll be fine.

Prison - jail isnt a fun place to be, but its not as bad as the movies say.

If he got 365 days, he wont see prison, in California he will go to a county run facility, some kind of honor farm or ranch where he will have to work. In a county run facility if he stays out of trouble he will do 6 months.

He should be thanking god he isnt in L.A. county.
In Alabama it's quite different, the county jails suck and if you may do every bit of your time sleeping on the floor with thin little mat in a crowded cell.

I don't know how many up and comers, and or veteran riders scan the message boards here at Vital.

If you're out there, take a good look at Dave's message in this thread. He's one of the few that will be put good advice out there, all while risking potential business inside the industry.

How many others do you see breaking down the B.S., and trying to help others while possibly hurting themselves from a personal and business stand point?

Answer - None.

How ironic would it be if he is placed at that jail/facility/camp next to Glen Helen?

you know my friend an old norcaler that was busted with drugs scottie...raced a yamaha for fox and team yamaha?

he told me something that made me look at ex cons a little differently last year at A1. he said "bob, there are a lot of good people in prison, sometimes better people than the people not in prison". I asked what he meant and he said "a lot of people snitched and sold out to reduce or eliminate their sentence...those people are way worse than the ones that didn't sell out and took their lumps".

very true...so true.

Is there more detail on the charges? I'm vaguely familiar with a couple of the incidents but man, 1 year seems a little harsh. Are they calling a missing chunk of ear "serious bod inj"? I would think serious would be a little bit more life threatening. What the heck is "PC Mayhem"? 4 felonies? Hopefully he gets out in 6 months all shiny and new.
If someone causes a chunk of my ear to become missing I'm going to call that pretty serious.

This is probably the most accurate post here, 4 felonies and 365 days means it isn't shit. JLaw will most likey do his time at an honor ranch in some trustee dorm, have a job and have to work everyday, by the time he's processed in and classified he'll be on his way out...It's called Wine-o time...
