What really sucks is the Promoter banning a Team Manager for giving a candid interview.

Yanks & Brits should both withdraw.

Boycott the bastards.

That would be great Rupert.
If USA and Australia boycotted. Luongo would be pulling his hair out.

Its a tough one this. The British team is always going to be under pressure, we've not had much luck in the way of injuries this year (like the US team I guess) but the manager should probably have known to be a little more careful with what he said.

I don't think boycotting the event does anyone any good, it hurts the fans more.

Then you don't think.

if people want things to change they can't keep supporting the Current Organizer.

i dont think that is a good idea because at this point , money has been spent and it is not fair to those who have spent their money to pull out now . i think the yanks and brit teams should boycott the mxdn NEXT YEAR .

I wish someone could transcribe this interview and get it online... Mattes should call up Eastwood for a Podcast... That would be an interesting one!

youthstream have fucking ruined gp motocross, it's not moto gp and never will be. its a grassroots sport for kids, men, women, everyfuckinone to enjoy, the series they are after is just not ever going to happen in mx. there just isn't enough money being pumped into mx by sponsors and manufacturers for it to work. they are giving the local guy no chance to be seen, they are building shitty tracks in shitty locations, they are over charging the public, and not paying the men that are the fucking show!

i grew up following world grand prix mx, i attended probably 4/5 gp's a year. since i've seen the shite youthstream have been introducing and trying to become i've completly lost all respect for mxgp's. i know some of the riders may well be on good contracts, but to be fair, it's like being on income support compared to the ama.

show some fucking respect for the riders, pay the men thats putting their lives on the line to fill your fucking pockets.

as for the boycot, yep i think usa, britain, austrailia, and all other countries should say, enough is enough, and show them a great big, fuck you!!!!!!

i will never be at another event that youthstream is involved with!

Totally agree with you about our boys' financial reward.

I read earlier Guseppe stating with pride he's hopefully enforcing a base salary of 24k euro for every MX2 / MX1 rider.

WTF, these guys put their neck, for what? It has to be the love of the sport cause their never going to get rich from it unless they reach Cairoli / Everts status.

At best they'll have a 15 year professional career, then what do they do for dough? They're not going to live off their earnings that's for sure.

Much as hate youthstream, along with the Des Nats i'll always support the British, Czech and Dutch GPs (they're the most accessible to me) as it's better not having them at all.

can you imagine a moto gp guy racing for a base salary of 24k lmfao.

look, not everyone is going to make a fortune other than your james stewarts, reeds, rc's cairoli's, everts ect, but the struggeling guys thats trying to make a name for themselves, mortgaging their houses to get to race a series, and all for what? jesus christ, they cant even get a fuckin entry now! whats the point. youthstream have made a family, affordable sport into an unaccessable fuck up.

there's alot of really talented guys out there that will never get a chance to qualify let alone race a gp cause of them greedy wankers.

is it any wonder that the best gp riders go to the ama, it's a no brainer.

I really want to see the MX media take a ballsy approach to reporting this and not sugar coat it.

For me, it's simple.
The Brits ACU or whatever their organization
is called dropped the ball here!
They should have stood by their man.
They're, the Brits about "freedom of speech " as well.
As long as nothing was said of family, religion, race &
color of ones skin, etc., it's just words , an opinion.
Wrong as it may have been, maybe sharp too, words it was,
& again the ACU should have stood by there man.
HANDS DOWN!
Keeping the same team in place, is a SHALLOW gesture to me.
If the FIM boyz hung around many of the GP hotels during the
season with open ears they'd be shocked by all the NEGATIVITY
thrown their way............gimme a break!

Full article from the magazine that published Marks comments can be found here http://motomagazine.co.uk/news/eastwoodgate-sacking-british-team-manager.html

What Mark Eastwood said

"“The GP’s are a farce. Luongo arrived in 1997. In 12 years he’s killed it. None of the clubs can afford to run it. That’s why each year you go to a new place with a businessman who puts his neck on the line and ends up losing a load of money - and so doesn’t want to run it again. You need a 25,000 crowd just to break even. I don’t know why the clubs that used to run GPs don’t just run nice big internationals, pay plenty of start money to attract all the top riders and so then get in a big crowd. Just forget about the FIM and Luongo and the world championship. It’s a farce - look, you’ve got a rider who’s leading the world championship but he’s not been paid for a year and half, so he’s left his team as he’s not been paid and now they’ll not let him ride. It’s an absolute load of rubbish. I can’t believe Sylvain Geboers, Michele Rinaldi and the rest of them are still turning up.”
