Neil Woerner bought a bike two years ago and started riding a lot again. He hit overshot a 65ft ramp by 10-20ft bailed and shattered everything. Broken pelvis, femur, some vertebrae and had some pretty bad internal damage. I saw him about a year ago walking with a cane, he was talking about getting a bike again. He is super smooth, a lot of fun to watch. I believe he works at the Borgata in the VIP lounge.

off-road motorcycle racer as a teenager. In 1996, at
the age of 19 during a recreational motorcycle ride
in his own neighborhood, Billy was struck by another
vehicle. Throughout his rehabilitation process, with
the support of his father, Bill Snook Sr., family and
community, Billy has shown remarkable courage,
perseverance and a very positive attitude.
For Christmas 2002, Billy’s father gave him an
adult tricycle so that he could take the first step in
resuming his “riding” career. By the spring of 2003,
he was cycling several miles a day. In late summer
of 2003, Billy was encouraged by his rehabilitation
team at Plus NeuroRehabilitation to participate in the
Brain Injury Association of New Jersey’s inaugural
Cycle For Safety. He enthusiastically agreed to join
the ride and, with the help of his father, he gathered
sponsors in his hometown of Vineland.
At that first Cycle For Safety in October 2003,
Billy pedaled his one-speed tricycle on the towpath
alongside the Delaware and Raritan Canal. Even
after several challenges, which would have
discouraged most riders, Billy persevered for more
than 15 miles and completed his ride in just over five
hours. His personal fundraising achievement broke
all records that year and made the event a complete
success.
Billy did not stop there. He has become an integral
part of the annual cycle event, which has grown into
the Walk For Thought & Cycle For Safety. While at
TREK last summer, Billy eagerly shared the news
that he had a new bicycle and was in training for the
2005 event. Billy has not only completed the course
each year but he has also been the highest individual
fundraiser each and every year. To date, he has
raised in excess of $25,000 for our Association. In
three short years, Billy’s outgoing, warm personality
and commitment to raising money to help others
with brain injury have come to symbolize the Walk
For Thought & Cycle For Safety.
Billy Snook’s courageous personal, athletic, and
rehabilitation achievements make him a hero to
other persons recovering from severely disabling
injuries. The Brain Injury Association of New Jersey
and NJACP are proud to recognize Billy Snook as a
“Community Star” for the year 2006.
The New Jersey Association of Community Providers
is an organization devoted to advancing quality
services for people with developmental disabilities,
and to which the Brain Injury Association of New
Jersey is a member agency.
