Thats a picture of my truck outside of a job, I had expired tags. Cops went around the job asking illegal immigrants whose truck it was and tried to walk inside the house.

I told him to get the fuck out and ten more showed up.

They don't have time to look for stolen goods, they would rather fuck with an American tax payer.

Are they expired,.? Some smaller depts and state patrol focus on traffic enforcement. Busier depts focus on calls for service first. Different areas equal different policing.

In another thread on air tags, someone mentioned don’t be a vigilante call the police.  Someone else mentioned if it’s stolen do you really want it back.

If one of my bikes, ATV, SxS, tractor whatever gets stolen and I know where it’s at.  I will call the police and tell them to meet me where my stolen property, I don’t mean ask, I mean tell them.  I’m not above trying to get my property back depending on the situation.  Might even deal with who stole it depending on the situation.  I’m one of those guys that will not settle for oh well, the police don’t have time they have more important things to do.

By the way, there are a whole bunch of guys just like me down here in Texas that don’t take kindly to thieves.

Not smart. It’s just property, not worth going to jail.

My truck was stolen with my KTM 350SX-F and wife’s KLX 140, with 30 minutes on it, chained and locked in the bed while I had a lapse of sense and went into a store for about 15 minutes. Never found the KTM but the KLX showed up on IG the following weekend in downtown Atlanta with, anyone want to solve this puzzle? riding with a pack of others. Bike was found in a ditch the next day completely thrashed and sent to impound. Both tires bald, levers broken, pegs bent, grips destroyed, chain stretched, sprockets rounded, silencer removed, plastic’s destroyed. Another momentary lapse of reason, I had to pay the impound lot over $400 to get it back (without first seeing it!). $1200 in parts and then find out the transmission was trashed.

Hindsight being 20/20, I should have told the impound lot to ram it up their backside and cut my losses.

Unless it’s still on the truck/ trailer…NO, I don’t want it back!

It was a truck parked outside with no one inside.

My tools were stolen from that same house, contractor contacted the police and they never showed up. Which I'm okay with, I understand they don't care if my property was stolen.

The white van was driven by an illegal immigrant with no license, oh the irony.

Mate of mine had a break in, they loaded his tool box and his bike into the back of a customer's van which he had in for work and they drove the whole lot away.

People planting DIY trackers on vans, motorhomes or trailers is fairly common here now. 9v battery, small PCB and a SIM card in a project box covered in duct tape and stuck under your vehicle at the track, then they just go help themselves from wherever you keep it.

Stealing big bikes that we work long and hard for pisses me right off, but stealing kids' bikes makes me wild.

Same here but with an old single cab Ranger haha, not a lot of cross members or support left under that thing, but the actual floor pan is passable 😂

Police are the same here too Sandusky, except instead of true wheelie boyz the bikes end up with little shits hooning around council estates or gypsy's ripping round local parks. Even if you straight up tell the police where the bike is, they don't want anything to do with it. If you went in there with a bat and tried to get it back yourself, assuming you avoided getting stabbed, they'd probably just show up and jail YOU for assault...

Ok man. Lol. Assuming you called immigrations then? Expired tags $100 fine. Your boss should pay it since he failed to renew it .

But if it was one of the cops "bros" he wouldn't say a thing. Crazy how they have certine standards for everyone but themselves or their friends. A lot of these officers are just on power trips.

I hear you man, I'm sure there are some good ones, there and here, but sadly seems like it dies off quickly the higher up the ranks you go, but to the good police out there, massive props.

There are for sure a TON of power trip dick heads though, and they feel like a majority.

Theft seriously needs to start being taken seriously whatever way you swing it, if they have that stealing mindset and all they get is a slap on the wrist or just told "don't do it again" and then get a suspended sentence (basically no punishment) when they DO do it again a month later, they'll never stop will they, it's ridiculous.

It seems it’s usually people who have to keep bikes in a trailer or a shed. The only solution for that I’ve found is alarm disc locks, any normal lock will just get cut. I use these and they’re super sensitive, best chance is to make them bail when having to move a bike with an alarm going off. If you get it in silver it blends in you won’t know it’s on the bike until it’s too late, I set mine off on accident just touching the bike while bending over to unlock it. Gives you time to turn the safety off while walking outside 👍🏻 Any dealer can order them

To those beating the simple “get insurance” drum; doesn’t motorcycle insurance cost money? And is there a number of claims where insurance companies might drop you? Say someone steals from you 4 times in one year, wouldn’t an insurance company start jacking your rates up or possibly drop your coverage?

Leaning so much on insurance seems like a narrow minded and short sighted solution that completely ignores the growing problem.

Side by Sides and trailers go to North to WV and PA?

Bikes go to ATL and Baltimore?

What options are there to lean on besides insurance?

-Locks and chains can be cut. I have a 2" m12 milwaukee grinder that can fit in my pocket that will make quick work of any 1/2, 5/8 chain.

-Stay up all night watching your bike.

-Shoot the sorry fucks and hope the legal system doesn't imprison you.

-Rely on local law enforcement.

Honestly, insurance is likely the best option as it can turn a lost asset into a liquid asset. If you have 4 bike thefts in one year then you need to question the area, not the insurance company.

I rock this set up after I caught 2 hood boogers in my garage at 430AM trying to take my 450. It attaches to a steel plate I concrete lagged into my garage floor. Chain would have to be cut with an angle grinder and some time. I also keep a lock on my garage door itself (we don't park cars in it anymore) My bikes are also insured as well.

If your bikes get stolen 4 times in one year, then you really need to rethink your living situation and or security situation.

As much as I would like to change it, there is nothing we can do to change how things are. It's the same in my area. Cops will show up but won't do anything to help find a stolen bike.

You can call insurance a narrow-minded solution but it's really all we have... I'll Gladly pay $200/year to know I won't be out 10k if my bike gets stolen.

I say narrow minded or short sighted more in the context of insurance being used by some people to shrug their shoulders and act like exploding theft rates aren’t a big deal, no real harm done.

But I’m genuinely curious how long insurance companies will keep reimbursing people before they say no more. 4 times in one year sounds crazy today, but read some of the experiences on this thread and tell me they wouldn’t have sounded crazy 5 years ago. As things continue to get worse, so will our baseline of what’s not ridiculous.

I bought a new truck 2 days later, I didn't want the good Ole boys to keep messing with me. Me and the contractor both let the good Ole boys how we felt. It's pretty unbelievable they didn't show when my property was stolen but they damn sure showed up to fuck with someone at work.

Considering bike theft is way up in your area, what are you doing since you don't accept "how things are"...

Sounds like all talk and no walk.

Ya'll are making me appreciate where I live.  I currently have a SxS and ATV outside that haven't had the keys removed from the ignition in years.  Garage has 6 (maybe 7?) dirt bikes sitting around, most days the door is open from about 7am to 7pm.  Only shit that goes missing is when my brother borrows something without telling me...most times that ain't much different than getting it stolen though cause it usually ain't coming back. Laughing

Wish ya'll didn't have to worry about it so much.  Fucking lame.

Complete opposite around here. I live in a good area, but we are surrounded by cities. All the inner-city scumbags have an endless supply to take from. You can't even get a package delivered these days without worrying someone ass clown is going to steal it. People can't even let their cars warm up in the morning because it might get stolen.

Not my area. And we have a good Sheriffs office were I live.

Dreamville is in Hoke County NC.

I'll let you do your own research on how they vote down there.

If I learned anything over the last 3 years, this bike theft issue is a pandemic.

After having my bikes stolen twice i got all back but one 2018 ktm 85 big wheel. Its still gone. I now have everything insured and you damn right it cost. Between the 12 items i have insured i pay over three hundred a month on the shit.

Lot of money to just give away each month.

Im sick of paying the shit but to afraid not to.

Btw, i live in a very red state. So its fucking not that. Thieves have not code of honor or political preferences. The just want your shit!!
