It is all in good fun bud, and I get what you're saying about this topic but I truly wish you or anybody discrediting the 37 riders behind Dowd had had a chance to ride the other 11 or so tracks and then this one, it is unique and one of a kind and can make the factory of factory riders look stupid sometimes.....
As far as Craig or Hanson... no matter who daddy is, teams aren't just going to give rides out because of your last name. Even though Hanson may not have panned out, the right people saw the talent as we all do, and as he showed at X games (and tying for a SX championship). In this sport a name can help or hurt you...... something to consider. People on this very board think because Christian pulled off at Unadilla he is like pops (the apple doesn't fall far from the tree)... Is that right? Nope. In this case, the name before you can actual hurt you and make you have to work harder and overcome the image your father created to fans and teams alike......... bud, I have been in discussions where the last name "craig" could have hurt this kid. true story, and I am really sad it was that way, I was truly the biggest Mike Craig fan ever.
Will you give him more credit then him just being a specialist at Southwick?
please don't twist what I am saying. I get in this argument every year when JYD does this.
here it is- JYD is the man and he is an animal, BUT he choses this race and does good at this race every time he enters because it is a specialty track. I am sorry to offend ANYONE but even JYD knows that and that is why he comes back and does good every year here. Where was he last weekend? or the week before? Do you think he will get third at Steel City?
Robbie Marshall? (btw- I think the kid rips but is it coincidence he had a breakout race here?)
Racing is an equalizer like that.

You thought "Supercross the movie" was going to flop from the very beginning.....
Another topic here but-I agree on the name, but again, I was there, in the conversation where Christian Craigs name came up for his "chance" (before JGR- X games invite) and the relationship to Mike Craig was hurting Christian before others who saw the talent vouched for him. and trust me BIG NAMES vouched for the kids talent and got him into X games. Christians management team took a gamble on knowing X games would get him more exposure than LL's and got his name in front of the right people at the right time. unfortunetly, if Mike would have been attached with the deal, Christian would not have been at X. sad but true. and again I was the biggest Mike Craig fan ever and I hope he can get back on track.
I'm objective to a fault, which means I saw it for what it was. Sorry.
hehehe.......!
sorry to get off topic!
Goerke 40
Byrne 40
Dowd 33
Hahn 30
Marshall 30
Fantastic bait though haha
I loved it.
I know that Dowd does better at Southwick than he will do anywhere else on the circuit....it is just that kind of track.
However;
Calling John Dowd "out of shape" is bullshit......the guy is a rock and in better shape than some of the guys that race full time.
Then, only a month later (and three rounds later), he went 9-5 for sixth overall at Southwick.
That's the story. Very simple.
No arguments by the way on the whole "home track advantage".
Believe me I know that Dowdy is almost certainly not going to go to another round and podium but damn it is nice watching him do it at home.
Good for John.
That Robbie Marshall made all the factory guys except 2 look pretty stupid for 35+1 in the first moto. Even 5th is a great result, but there's another Southwick local who was almost on the podium.
i think unadilla and southwick are the real different ones and show if a rider is good at all or just disked tracks
btw. good job to dowd and goerke
Pit Row
The Aussies have a great chance of winning it this year...
BTW Cudos for Dowdy! Podium at 44, now that is WOWING!
Look at the latest reports here.. http://www.motocrossactionmag.com/ME2/dirmod.asp?sid=&nm=&type=news&mod…
To discredit his accomplishment this weekend is very disrespectfull of his talent. To get beat by him is nothing to be embarrassed by.
I personally loved it. At least he's racing for the love of racing. So for that alone I thought it was awesome.
Dowd podium'd at the track he's been riding his whole life. He's been preparing for this race on this track.
Its a great single instance story. No need to conjure up some drama over it.
Its not like Dowd just got back on a bike for the first time since he retired. Shit, he's THE JUNKYARD DOG; he amazed the industry when he signed his first factory ride at his "advanced" age. We're not talking about a normal "old" guy here.
I will be 44 next week. Go Dowd!!!
