Magoo was a maniac...Race starts @ 4:40. Magoo was grabbing handfuls of throttle and Wise was super smooth. Check out Magoo's moves at 14:18 and 15:18

I remember watching that in 82, as well as the Carlsbad USGP. Magoo was on fire in 82.

I have never seen a more determined rider than Magoo. I lived up in Yuba City from 80 - 83. I got to see Magoo race a few times. Once at a local race at Riverfront Park, it was raining and horrible conditions. He was in the 125 pro class on a private 81 Suzuki RM125. He fell in the first corner and by the time he got up and restarted the rest of the riders were 20 seconds ahead. It was like an 8 lap race and he rode with his feet hanging off and past everybody. He crossed the finish line and was completely covered in mud. He asked “Where did I finish” we all yelled “you won”. He was ecstatic. That was Magoo. All or nothing.

We will never see anything like Maggo again, times and sport have changed too much. He was and will always be the only rider in the history of moto to have the determination, skill, attitude and that level of fearlessness to kick ass on the best in world. You can tell by his interviews wasn't going to roll over for anyone including the factories. He had a chip on his shoulder and was going to kick everyone's ass to prove them wrong.

^^^^ This in spades.

His pass in OPs video with the guard rail right there says it all.

I took this shot of Magoo talking to Andre Malherbe at the Namur GP back in 85. Magoo was riding a KTM. Andre asked him after I took this photo, "what gear are you in when you hit the jump at the end of the tarmac". Magoo said "5th gear wide open". Dave Thorpe was standing there also and both Dave and Andre just starred at each other. It was classic Magoo. I don't think he really hit in 5th but they didn't know.

Magoo, Namur 85. One of favorite shots I have ever taken.
