2023 ktm sx 250/300 stall / shut off issue

Shut off issue. I have a 2023 KTM 300 SX. Last time out with 2.6 hours on the bike the bike just shut off for a second. I pulled into the pits, made sure everything looked good, topped off the gas. It only took half of a gallon. I took the bike out for another try. After about 4 or 5 laps, it did it again! This time after a long table top, expecting to accelerate in deep loam and it shut off almost throwing me over the bars! I pulled in again and was getting ready to pack up and against my better judgement went out 1 last time. I rode some very conservative laps building up trust again. I started to pick up the pace and it did it again. That was it, this time I loaded up and took my bike to the dealer. The next morning after 1 day with no word I contacted KTM corporate. My KTM dealer did all the diagnostics KTM advised them to and said they couldn't duplicate the problem and that the bike was ready for pick up. Any suggestions from my Vital peeps out there? At this time the bike is parked. I am not going to ride a bike that has not had any changes made.

Elaborate a little. We’re you going up the face of a jump? Was the bike under a heavy load? How much gas was in the tank? We’re you just hitting the rev limiter? What fuel and premix ratio are you running? I’ve had bikes cut out because the fuel cap vent was plugged so now I make it a pre Moto ritual to check the vent and make sure it’s free flowing before I ride.

Couple owners saying they had bad tps sensors causing cutting out in the higher rpms.

Check voltage on your TPS. My 350 is doing the same, not on the track but at idle. You can get the pigtail on Amazon for like 40 bucks. Taco moto has some good YouTube tutorials.

Reports of fuel pump not pulling gas from the bottom of the tank - so it acts like it is out of gas when it really isn't. Did you add gas each time you went back out?

It says in the post, the first time it shut off, he topped it off with 1/2 a gallon of gas then headed back out.

Worth checking the online fuel
Filters as well if they have one like the 4 strokes do.

My 23 Husky 350 randomly shuts off at low speed or idle speed. It happens a lot. Never had a bike do this. Even after it's been warmed up. Happened on the track once going over a slow speed high peak roller and about sent me over the bars.

That sounds like a tps setting issue.

what types of fuel are you running? sounds like a fuel issue to me. especially if they can't replicate the issue.

I know this is an old thread but i am trying to figure out why my 2023 300xc is bogging/cutting out..basically just losing power when i hit the throttle. Its random. Any update OP?

I had the same issue. I’m 99% sure the culprit was loose head bolts. Check your coolant. If there isn’t any in it or it’s low, I bet your head bolts are loose and she’s combusting coolant.

I had the same issue. I’m 99% sure the culprit was loose head bolts. Check your coolant. If there isn’t any in it or it’s low, I bet your head bolts are loose and she’s combusting coolant. 

I’ll check that, but wouldn’t loose head bolts push cylinder pressure into cooling system, usually pushing out coolant through cap? This does seem to happen hot.

On Thursday the same thing happened on my 2024 300 XCW.  Second gear single track trail the bike just shut off while in gear and on the gas (not hard on the gas).  Plenty of fuel.  Rolled to a stop, hit the starter, no problems the rest of the day.  My 2019 500 EXC used to do that occasionally until I got a Vortex.

I  have been on KTM's since 1984. They lost my business.
