I could be that same spot in the tri-oval, it could be back over at the exit of turn two along that back superstretch area, which has stands going 2/3 of the way down it.

For SX, they have lots of restrictions due to bike week and other events, during mid-summer, they wouldn't. They could build a track on the entire infield or within the fenced in road course infield area.

That might be fun to attend...neat gimmick to make up for a 24-hour drive.

I thought that they have had those restictions from the first race there until now. Am I wrong?

I was at the 74 race.It was the 1st SX they say,The other races in 72/73 were tran/am races they say.

At the 74 race they used the area used now plus crossed the pavement twice and used the area inside the international horseshoe.

saw all the greats that day.The drunks had mashed the fence down and I walked right into the pits.

If Dade city had the parking, widen the track up a little bit, have a good start then you would have a sweet national track. and Randy Yoho knows how to put on an event

raced many many times there. When gary had it the place was killer.Ran several nationals there also before they killed the 500's.

The gate was then a forward falling thing. You could get the rear spinning and when it fell about half way just jump it.

Parker Valley was great. It got rough and nasty (at least from a non-riding minidad's perspective. LOL!) It sucks that the owners closed it down.

I rode at Monster Mountain yesterday (could not stay for race today). It had changed since I was there last. HB and Teggers, it is slowed down from what it was a few years ago. The long straight after the start and the long straight with the high speed uphill triple is gone.I don't like the finish line table with the steep downhill after it. Too much penalty if you case the end and crash down the hill. As far as a national, I don't see where they could park everyone unless there is something on the other side of the treeline that I couldn't see.

yes they have plenty of areas for the parking. When you look at the track from the RV parking spots> that valley that is nice and flat can and would be cleared. Along w/ other areas. They have over 200 acres. Plus from a race fans standpoint it would be nice to be able to see pretty much the whole track. As for a pros standpoint ask Millsaps, Barcia, Bowers and LL Champ Justin Weeks and many more what they think of the place. It can and will get rough with 15 lines in some of the corners. The new owners try to keep it more on the safe side for everyday use.

Silver Creek when it first opened was a nice layout. Steep hills. It had a long start. This is around 1981. Too many trees from a spectator standpoint but it had it all. Speed, off cambers, big {for the time} jumps and long lap times. Gordon Bowden designed that track I believe. They called it 'Saddleback of the east' back then. The Bollinger's still own the property.

Track was good. We were worried about the weather with Tstorms in the area, but they had to water. There wasn't a huge number there on Sat., but not sure about Sunday.

Its not bad , why dont you like it?. You probably would hate the hard pack California tracks I dont like them to much either but thats what you get to race on and you have to deal with it. You have been spoiled by smooth sand tracks like Dade City.

About 6 years? Rocks were the same as Gatorback?

Which track would be worthy of a national in the southeast region?
Croom , having grown up in Bakersfield ,California , I kinda have an idea of what "hard pack " tracks are all about. I have spent plenty of time riding in the baked out foothills of California . I have ridden Gatorback as far back as 1979. I have ridden Hard Rock also.

They can not even get a consistent monthly program going there, let alone a weekly race schedule. Hard to fathom that if the track is so good. And Dade City's long track is not as "smooth" as you may think, especially when the Winter Am races roll through there.

And where are the big rigs, spectators, and vendors all going to squeeze in at Hard Rock? Out in the road there?

What kind of 'bud you smoking down Miami way?
