There's no one I can think of that's more deserving of HOF induction. I do wonder if he had publically and formally announced his retirement earlier...he might have been inducted sooner...not that it matters I guess.

I never got to meet James but have met his Mom, Dad, and Malcolm. As real and down to earth as good folks can be. Congrats to the Stewarts.

Well, was he or was he not caught using a forbidden drug? Not denying his ‘upbringing’ at all. I’ve always thought he was one of the fastest dudes ever just crashed waaaay too many times.

No, he was not... He was banned because he had not filled out a "TUE" Therapeutic Use Exemption for Adderall. It was basically a clerical error, over a prescribed drug. You should do a little homework, before you post negative shit.

You are correct but I don't know if we ever heard exactly "why" that TUE wasn't filed. At the time, I felt that James just didn't want to admit any chink in his armor. It's a cryin' shame because it was completely allowed if protocol was was followed.

I'd like to have someone ask him directly how/why it happened.

Notice how his story keeps changing every time he has been shot down? First shovel of dirt started with Well, was he or was he not caught using a forbidden drug? and the clear answer to everyone but him NO it wasn't a forbidden drug. He definitely paid his dues and it cut his career short. Though if you want to call out people in the “Hall of Fame” the 90’s was one big party and talked about numerous times.
Making excuses for this type of thing really doesn't help the sport.

He had a huge team around him, there was no excuse whatsoever not to file the paperwork for a banned substance (Adderall is simply a trade name for a combination of Amphetamines). He was a professional athlete and responsible for whatever goes into his body and to say him and his whole management/medical team were unaware that paperwork was needed for Amphetamine is disingenuous in the extreme.

A PED is a PED. Whether it enhances the performance of your mind or the performance of your body it is still a PED, hence the lengthy ban.

Anyway, if you're not bothered about athletes being clean that's fine, you are entitled to your opinion. As am I.
