Desalle - "The speed is similar, not so many riders go fast there, in the World Championship it's strong until the top ten, there (America) it's more like top five is fast, but after that it isn't that strong. My bike there was stock, I just got the frame, then the engine came later and I had to work with my father on the Friday to fix everything. My bike there was just stock and it wasn't anything like my bike at the Grand Prix's. I was close to Reed, my speed was good.”
Which is pretty much what I and others have been saying for a while...

then how the f did reed go from outside 12 seconds from the lead to running those guys down and ditching them with 2 laps to go and desalle was in 7th?
the dude is a great rider no doubt, and obviously, it's all he said she said. but what i saw was reed kicking everyones asses at washougal and desalle finishing a very respectable 7th, nowhere near reed.
the end.

He's not joking about putting the bike together. A lot of it came in Tupperware tubs.
The biggest difference I saw? How differently he rode compared to the U.S. guys. His bike was somewhere extremely low in the rev range, while our guys like to run it at the rev limiter.
I think Desalle would have a better idea of the speed and any armchair American motocross watching only fans.
And there have been at least 5 injuries in the GPs this year too... Barragan, De Reuver, Pourcel, Strijbos, MAckenzie, Mellote, Ramon, even DV...

He was awesome in one moto and gave up and quit in the second.
The field at Washougal was definitely depleted somewhat by injuries, but the GPs have been cut down pretty bad this year in that department as well.
not doubting his ability or his speed, just his judgment in saying he was close to reed. armchair racing nothing, i will call a spade a spade. tommy hahn was close to reed, clement desalle was nowhere near him.
mccread, there are fast guys on both sides of the pond. That's why we have one race every year to check out the fast guys from each country, in one place at one time. It's coming up in October in Italy. You should check it out.
"I'd say here the guys are fast, they definitely go fast straight away, but nowadays, especially in MX1, it's stacked. You've got guys who are winning Grand Prixs one weekend who are finishing ninth the next. Anyone can win there."

We get it you love the World Championship; I can always count on your post to say the same thing over and over again.
Some guys here on Vital don’t give a shit about the GP’s
Deal with it.
I have been to Europe and been to a few World rounds and had a blast.
I love the GP’s and think the speed of both series is similar.
So please give it a rest. Wee know where your coming from already
which was pretty damn impressive
of course, some people aren't allowed to appreciate it... for some dumb reason
i like desalle and wish he would have done better in the second moto so he could have some tv time. i missed the live moto online... so i didn't get to see him really. can't wait for the MXdN
