Sure as hell seem that it is people within the racing community that are stealing these bikes. Its not like they are worth much to rest of the outside world. So face facts the thieves of, and worse, the market for these bikes are the people around us...


How about instead of a reward we put out the word if you get caught with this bike you get the shit kicked out of you no questions asked...

sounds like people need to protect their assests a little more....my bike sleeps in my living room sometimes....with huge chain....i know track is different situation...heres an idea get a dog teach it to bark a lot when someone goes near your trailer. at night put killer in the trailer...at least if someone tries to steal it you will hear it ....then prcocede with can opener to trailer....open up a 36 pack of whoop ass on the bastards!


and it is wierd that someone would steal a race bike usually they are so distinctive...everyone knows whos bike it is...have to do a make over before you can even ride the thing....then go ride it karma gonna break your damn neck

Does anyone insure their bikes anymore? mine is. for a hundy I get piece of mind that if it's stolen or what not I won't lose my ass.

These guys don't ride these bikes. They sell them or part them out. It only takes a few pieces of plastic and some stickers to make the bike look different.

The dog is a great deterrent.

As far as selling the stolen property the problem is most stolen bikes are probably parted out.

Most bikes are worth more in parts that whole. I know a guy who makes low ball offers on CL and buys them cheap. Then parts them out. He has doubled his money on more than a few.

Unfortunately sometimes there are thief's among us........I try to lock down everything at any large race I attend.

I attended the 1st MAMA race of the year at Budds this Spring. A guy came up and asked if I had a gas tank vent hose as he had lost his. I told him yes....its included in our $30 hose kit with all of the other hoses. He said he did not want a whole kit just the one hose.......I told him we do not sell just one hose but the whole kit. He pointed into my trailer and asked......what about those rolls of hose? He came by 3 times in 2 days asking.........while I was not looking "some one" stole a whole roll of gas line hose.......funny thing is it was not even the size he needed.

Mine are insured, but they also sport one of these any time I am not in my pit area and at night.

Southern Maryland was REALLY BAD for a while. They were jacking full trailer rigs full of bikes out of parking lots in the local hotels near Budds. Anyone remember the carjacking out near Laurel, Md. when some people showed up with automatic weapons and took the bikes and trucks? Ending in a car chase/shootout with the police. Ugly.

The bike shops in/near DC have to fortify the front windows with concrete posts to prevent smash and grabs (car through front window, grab the bikes). I think the situation has gotten better, but we are used to watching our bikes like hawks.

Dirt bikes are easy to hide and easy to steal. I rescued one off the freeway yesterday when my friend was forced to leave his bike and truck. Took me less than a minute, and the disc was locked.

Their just stupid in Mexico. My parents had a beach house there and they broke into my dads van and stole the battery and the steering wheel with the "Club" on it. He also left a caulking gun outside and they stole the caulking gun that was $2 and left the $12 tube of caulk.

Would be a good time for race teams to set up some CCTV type video camera's and hide the camera away, but at least if someone tries to jack a bike they should have something on video.

Didn't someone steal one of Jeff Ward's factory bikes or at least Team Kawasaki had a factory bike stolen back in the early 80's?


I recall a Suzuki dealer in NC had a new RM rolled out of the shop during the middle of the day.


The hare scrambles champ in VA had his bike stolen while he was taking a nap in the room next to his garage.


I just read on another board a 2006 RM250 was stolen from Lincolnton, NC this past Sunday. Keep an eye out if you live in the Charlotte, NC area. The bike had 85 on the plates but who knows by now.


Lots of stories about bikes being stolen..... crap, I don't remember closing the garage door this morning!

the cockroaches who stole my bikes were not racers. they were local Puerto Rican Scum who steal dirt bikes on a weekely basis, hide them in their sheds in the projects where they have to be given 10 days notice that their shed is gonna be searched. they move them from shed to shed till they blow them up or crash running from the cops. the fucker who got caught on one of mine was released to his scum bag mom and 7 hrs. later was caught again stealing mx bikes!!! the cops really don't give a shit either
