From what I’ve heard, point our rule might be gone. Can only be pushed out of 250 class via championship rule.

so does that mean anyone who has not won a championship can drop back down?

Well that means Forkner will be on a 250 forever.

And what a bullshit rule change.

Eh... it's not really any more bullshit than all the shenanigans they let happen when guys want to stay down.

What's bullshit is that they continue to get full National Points for racing half the guys....but that's a dead horse we can beat in another thread.

Vince wasn’t even close to pointing out under the current rule. J-Mart and Forkner were the closest.

It's actually a good rule change...what was BS was the "injuries" riders would suffer and miss races and not point out...now the fans in later rounds will see a more competitive 250 class...

i agree with PhilG it is a BS rule change. You say a more competitive class will result but the class is already ultra-competitive. The rule change will only encourage more Davalos types and more 28 year old SX champions.

MX2 age limit of 23 is a good rule but even if it was 25 in the states, it would be better than what we have now especially with this bogus rule change.

A salary cap in the 250’s solves all of this too. Along with team gear deals only.

I hope this is the case. The 250 point out rule has been stupid forever, especially since outdoors has nothing similar.

Glad they didn't do something asinine like have an age rule in a professional class.

I’m fine with the change as long as the 250 sx class is not regional. Race the full series. Like the outdoors. Full length 20min mains. Half the pay of course. Then its a pro class not a feeder class.

Go non regional and lots of people will lose their job. Many 250F race team efforts don't have the budget to contest a 17 round series so there goes smaller teams out the window,

Then it remains a feeder class not a pro class as it always has. They need to put teeth into the system to have 1 PRO class. 250sx regional title currently means nothing and you want riders to stay there forever?

Yeah a feeder class for lifetime 250 riders. Hilarious your take is not a pro class. Jett Lawrence and Christian Craig have a different take than you.

National level racing should be full national level racing with full seasons, and no pushing riders out when they’re successful. Let AX and the amateur national series be the feeders. So now we just need two more changes, ditch the regional split BS and drop the 2x champ gets the boot rule.

Let’s see.. it took how long for the first rule change? 20+ years? I truly don’t remember.. so another 40 years and we’re gonna have a real 250SX championship!!

Racing isn’t a jobs program. By your logic, we should have 3-4 regions, maybe more? Eventually we’ll have a 2 race championship series.. wait..

I'll never understand the "it creates more jobs" argument. Let's split the 450 class to 2 divisions too. And the motocross season should be split by each coast, let's just create jobs out the wazoo.

If 250s went the full season, small teams would still race their close races just like the smaller teams in Europe race their close GPs. The factories would still have a similar number of guys since top 250 salaries are smaller than top 450s.

The MX2 rule has been a joke from the beginning, it has forced riders out of rides or made them buy rides in MXGP or completely out of racing...it has done nothing for the MXGP class as there are so few rides available that the riders have nowhere to go...Why are you so hell bent on making guys move up and ride for free?

Simple. Racers shouldn't be in the 250 class their entire career in SX where teenagers come into the class against veterans with a decade or more of experience. Also please give an example of who has purchased a ride in MXGP..

Not familiar with his story. How did his purchased ride in MXGP come about?

I don't have a dog in this one or two series discussion, bur I will never support one series. What about instead of an age limit or points limit, having a time limit on how many years you can race in the 250s? I am definitely ready for change in the 250 class.

It is extremely difficult to get funding these days. Now imagine approaching a sponsor and saying "we are only going to be racing three out of the eight race series" but can we have your money to go racing.

Each year, two riders will still be kicked out of the class and will have to make the jump to 450s. I think it’s a good rule, it’s not like 250 champs can stay down year after year to sandbag the regional class.

I always get a kick out of those worried about “jobs” when it’s a professional sport. At some point a line is drawn for those that can make a living at it and those who can’t. The guy in 15th in one region or the other really doesn’t have a “job” doing this anyway.

I think once a 2 time regional sx or national champ you have to move up in that series. The best riders will move up and who’s gonna toss a championship to stay down?? The age rule is dumb. Make it championship based.

And you have to have some sort of move up rule. Whether it’s 2 titles. We want to see a guy dominate 250s for 5 years and not see him in the 450 class? Hoping that he’ll choose to move up on his own isn’t enough. I say you get 5 seasons started and 2 titles whichever comes first. If you get injured at round 1? There’s one of your seasons.

The move up rule will be win a championship and you have 4 seasons in 250s.
If u win it in your 4th + season you get the next season to defend.
Win it within your first 3 season and u can only race 4 seasons.
Ama classify a season as scoring 5 points.

an age limit on a professional sports is stupid. we dont limit age for football, baseball, etc.

removing the point out rule is good. leaving the option open for guys to have careers at different levels is common place and the right move.

If anything the 'futures/combine' races should be turned into an EMX esque series that follows amatuer a/sportsman class rules
