I like the direction he is taking his YouTube channel. Seems to be putting a heavy emphasis on privateers. He is talking about trying to get a press pass from Feld and I hope he gets one. It's good to have a guy give some love at the races to the guys that are filling the field.

Yeah, it sucks that his last few videos he interviews Stank-Dog, Izzi, Alessi and Tristan Lane. Screw those privateer dudes.

He also put out a Privateer Cribs video tour of Stank-Dog's van. While not perfect and needs polishing, once he gets a flow down it would be cool seeing all the privateer rigs. It is a cool little niche he could carve out for himself. Too small for the big guys but still worth being there.

dont think hes a bad guy, but he makes himself sound like he was some kind of amateur phenom on the brink of stardom and the industry didnt do enough for him.

assuming this is the same john hopper, he finished 33rd overall @ utah back in 2015

Ever heard of a guy named Steve Matthes? He does more for privateers then all of them combined. Has a privateer island podcast with 189 shows to listen to, raised north of 100K, has his own race for Privateers. He also helps guys with getting parts, gear and sponsors. No need for Johnny Rabbit.

Focusing on privateers, which he has always advocated for, could be it.

I suppose you're not wrong, any press is typically good press for our tiny little sport.

Just wanted to add that because some of your initial posts had the feeling that Hopper was somehow blazing a new path by covering privateers when Matthes has been a champion of the privateers for years now.

Steve does a great job for the industry,no one will come close to what he has achieved for probably 50 years.👊
we don’t need another person like Steve in the media, Johnny had his spot and like it or not he’s gaining momentum and doing good things for the sport,let’s grow together as fans of the sport and support hopper and any new media channels good or bad they could turn out to be really great save the complaining for when we’re old and grumpy 😘
