I’m not a believer in them personally. Anything that restricts movement that much is no good. The material that they’re made of seems too harsh for the impact distribution as well. Trying to persuade someone on their opinion of neck braces is like trying to talk a flat earther out of their delusions though. Sure RV won a ton of titles with one and had some big get offs but… it’s RV. I’ve seen enough people personally get wrecked with one to say I would rather no try one. They seem to either kind of help or make a bad situation worse.

Don't wear my A-star brace anymore but have contemplated trying the Atlas Vision compression collar. Who's tried one?

Source? How about the hundreds of people who stopped wearing neck braces for the reasons I described, including myself?

Oh snap, I didn't catch that part. I just heard him mention somebody cutting in front of him and I assumed it was on the track.

Made the decision to let my ride without after always always always wearing one. It was actually by accident but it was so clear how much more movement he had. I will not advise anyone to not wear one if they want to. That’s one decision that needs to be made by the parent or adult.

Source - as in scientific data. Peer-reviewed journal article. Any study using basic scientific method. Any objective evidence to support the hypothesis.

That was last year. He just posted a new video, riding on the road. Two different injuries

I have one. I officially tried every brace on the market lol and still can’t get used to it.. just compare some pictures of me riding with one vs without one. Would love to ride with it but I just dont feel comfortable with it.

Thanks for sharing. This is what I'm worried about as well. I'll probably end up trying one anyway but I suppose there is no "have your cake and eat it too" in this situation

They were popular because people were always scared.

I love when you talk to a neck brace supporter and they say “if I wasn’t wearing a neck brace, It would have been a lot worse, and I’d be paralyzed”.

A few times they may prevent a big injury, a few times they may cause more Injuries, even death. No one will ever know the exact numbers

When is the last time wearing boots or a helmet caused more severe injury or death than not wearing them?

And a lot of people don’t wear knee braces, even several pros don’t. There’s cons to those too, such as broken femurs. Although after two knee surgeries I believe the pros out weight the cons on them

Give an example of a more severe injury or death from a neck brace.

Just one.

There is plenty of real-world user data since the Leatt was released in 2006.

Uh. A more serious neck injury because of the neck brace? I’m kinda interested in facts. Why do YOU think no more pros wear one? Honestly just a simple question.

I think reasons for not wearing one are about the same as not wearing a seat belt. Comfort vs perceived risk. I think amateurs also have the brace cost as a reason. And many in this thread alone, I think, have not read any research.

But these are opinions, not facts. I'm simply challenging claims made as facts, which can be as easy as reading a complete article or watching a complete instagram reel - both not done in this 2 page thread so far...

Interesting take and I can appreciate the analogy. However, seat belts are a far bigger gain than neck braces. Good try tho……

I think a lot has to be as others have mentioned about being comfortable in movement on the bike. I think the faster you are and the more body English you use the less likely you are to wear a neck brace.
I raced with them for a year or so but I no longer wear a neck brace. I'm comfortable without them.
I crash plenty.....lol.
Gotta be a good crasher.... 😂
