I think his sponsored rider was trying to pull something he didn't know about and it pissed him off. From the dad's lack of participation in the claiming process, I'd guess he didn't know what was going on either. As a father there is no way I'd let my kid go through the claiming process without my involvement. The dad "went to get water" while his son was going to make the biggest news of LL, and anyone with a brain knew that is what would happen...right.

Maybe once he turns pro KTM will invite him over to see how he does in the GP's.
Then there's a lot of off season events across the pond too he could race.
Canadian nationals might also be an option.
I thought DV's constant interruptions during sponsors time was annoying...but then it hit me. Holly molly, A lot of gargling sponsors names and products.. I've slowly been accustomed to these regurgitations for years now.
Ask yourself, can Matthes truly explain what a GP vertex piston is? Am sure he cashes their checks tho.
And that damn neck brace/ airline commercial over and over.. Yet never seen him use one.
So sorry, making grown up, informed decisions here. Pulp used to be fun, there are some great episodes.
Over the years the lack of accurate or precise information regarding mechanical or factual details.. just winging over it like a salesperson who does not care but just wants to offload product .. and yet claiming the holly status of former mechanic to assert some kind of authority...
And sorry, the lack of research on topics. Seeing that other outlets can do the research while having real jobs.
No excuses there, unless your schtick is "entertainment " only.
Yet in the past , some exquisite pieces of investigative articles and journalism.
The recent events have transpired where the show stands.
It used to be the place against all odds where you could hear the unpopular truths. Blunt honesty and entertainment. Shooting the Sh*t.
I guess it's part of evolution, not being core anymore and paying for higher ceilings, while being " in" with the boys.
Best of luck to all. Everyone is entitled to their own life choices and beliefs.
For me It is a sad day and quite a loss in my small, niche sport/ entertainment. I miss the old Pulp. It has changed, and it is not working out anymore.
Very bad timing, as I was about to switch to blucru. That and hearing Keefer & crew, all that gargle... I want nothing to do with these guys and their " club" . This is not what I want to endorse, or support in any sort.
I do remember " let Brock Bye". Reason some of us were riding other colors for decades after.
Just my choice. Don't act as if we are imbeciles not seeing through your sh*t.
Can we all move along now? There’s some awesome racing coming up, you know actual professionals…..
From this week’s Racerhead:
ONE MORE ON CLAIM-GATE (MATTHES)
Okay, so we had Donnie Luce from Yamaha on the PulpMX Show Monday night, and yeah, if my Twitter feed or Vital MX is to be trusted, I might have missed the mark on getting the info out about this whole Deegan claim thing. I mean, I think it was fine, and I'll explain it in more detail here in a bit, but there's more than a few people who didn't like the way I handled it, so maybe, well, they're right? It's not a vocal minority, that's for sure. Here's where I was coming from: Donnie didn't start this thing; he was dragged into it when Star Yamaha and Brian Deegan were upset about this claim. Donnie was forced to step in (to support his #1 amateur rider, dad, and team) and talk to Brennan Schofield, who made the claim.
There's more to the story—and we all know that, and it's out there—but to cut to the chase of the Luce/PulpMX Show thing, I had seen more than a few people who wanted Donnie fired, more than a few people who said they would never support Yamaha again because of these threats of Yamaha pulling Brennan's dealership, and to me, I know Luce was broken up about the mob calling for his job for these "threats." I wanted to get out there that these "threats" to Brennen's dealership didn't happen (and couldn't happen for a number of logical reasons).
I think we know by now, based on everyone's statements after the fact (Brennan and the dealer), that this part didn't happen. So I did have some empathy to Luce for this, and when I said, "Sorry you got dragged into this," I don't think there's any way Donnie does a thing unless Brian Deegan and/or Star Yamaha don't protest this claim. So he did have wade into this, and there was an offer for motors and some other stuff to drop this claim (which I don't see an issue with; Brennan's dad explained this was a deal they took to me).
So could I have hammered Donnie more? I guess so, but I didn't see a problem with the adult to the minor agreeing to drop the claim for some stuff. Yes, I have a deal with Yamaha for support of the show and a loaner bike for the year—which I disclosed—but the original claims from Brennen seem to have lost some of their steam and he forgot to disclose a few things, and I wanted that to come out. Listening back, it probably was a bit of a softball interview, and I'll try to do better, but the above was my intent. And once more, for the record, Brennan Schofield should have the bike, and I'm happy the powers that be are changing the claiming rules for next year. [Ed. note: Schofield posted pics of his new KTM today on his social media.]
Honestly, there is only so much Matthes I can take. I don't hate the guy, but he kinda grates on me. I do prefer his REALLY old interviews when it was just him.
When I listen now, it's just segments with certain guests. I tire of all the other schmuckery. Also, I FF thru the commercial/product endorsements. I have very little tolerance for corporate shilling. I get it....they pay for keeping content on air.
Your last line is the one that really resonates.
"Don't act as if we are imbeciles not seeing through your sh*t."
That is spot on....and is exactly what they are doing.
Even Weege's Podcast was saying there is no way Yamaha could strong-arm a dealership. Sad.
EDIT: Matthes quote taken from the post above mine.
"I wanted to get out there that these "threats" to Brennen's dealership didn't happen (and couldn't happen for a number of logical reasons)."
More...."These are not the droids you're looking for" imbecile manipulation..
Not to mention, you ever hear of Pro-bono? Are you required to work for free a certain percentage every year?
Your response smells like jealousy. Haves and have-not pure class warfare.
Fact is, there are scumbags in every profession. For example, mechanics/repair shops who take advantage of people.
