Long time lurker.. Hello Vital
Need some assistance here.
So.. I can't hang onto this bike to save my life. I have tried a few different things but really have not found any solution. After about 14-18 minutes, I am completely roached and have to pull off because my hands are blowing off the bars or my arms are fatigued beyond safety. The answer is obviously to hang on with my legs, but HOW? So, I'm hoping some other gasgas owners can share their thoughts. It seems like the bike just funnels my legs back off of it with no good contact patch. It's like it's made of ice.
I get bruises right where my leg contacts the bike in the pictured area, and that's the only place I have for grip really. Do you see how the seat is nearly a half inch away from the rad shroud? not making it easy. I do not wear knee braces, I prefer some stout guards that don't interfere much. "Fitness" is no problem at all. I train 6/week and can get on fine with other bikes I've had. Same with technique, I'm no textbook but it's good and improving. I've played around with grip and even made custom templates, but it's not really the silver bullet. Aside from making my bike look like a 7 year old attached it with grip tape, I'm kind of out of ideas besides Stegz Pegz or a guts wing seat (goofy alert x2). I'm afraid that if I use Stegz that I'll become dependent on them.
Right and Left Side Grip Regions

Pretty big protrusion. The seat is not even a factor in leg grip.

The result. Bruising is deep every time I ride. The 'R' indicates right side.

The TP199 have been on my radar a while.
About 6'3", 35" inseam as well.
Weirdly I didn't notice this at all on said husky previously, it had plenty to keep hold of. Is this just a "getting used to it" thing? I wouldn't say it's a huge problem and it does still feel pretty direct and stable gripping it low down.
It doesn't really matter anyways because theres nowhere to grip this bike anyways lolol. In the past though, especially on the Japanese bikes with thicker frames and airboxes, it's like an extension of your body. I hope that makes sense. I'm going to insert some stuff in there as Greg mentioned.
Pit Row
Sort of outside the scope of discussion, but do you have any idea what kind of lifespan they have? My current guts cover is still very grippy, but its getting some smooth spots after about 8 hours. Much more aggressive on seats than 'normal'.
