In my opinion every hotshot kid coming out of Lorrettas should do WSX first. Most of those kids still need some SX preparation and what better way to get ready for A1 than to do a season of WSX first. Even if the plan the next year is SX/MX it still makes sense to get some less pressure stadium experience.

Not if they are already contracted to a factory...those riders that aren't the best coming out maybe....lot's of decisions and possible changes after the 3 race WSX this fall...just know that many riders racing the WSX are only contracted for the 3 races.

Say the plan for a Honda kid is to go pro after LL's next year. Why not "farm him out" to MCR for 23 WSX season to get some experience and SX gate drops. That kid would be so much further ahead than if he raced 4 outdoor nationals. Just because there is no actual pipeline like that right now doesn't mean there shouldn't be one. That's how it will be remaking the sport.
I'm just telling you it's not going happen with the aliance that the OEM's have with SMX, their contracted riders will not be racing the WSX next year and beyond. It will only be riders without contracts that will have that option...and with only 22 spots even that's doubtful, they would be better off going to the GP's...

Like any contract it will depend on who has the leverage. If Jett tells Honda that he wants a SX and WSX contract or else he is signing with someone who lets him what do you think Honda will do?

Also, What are the Kids going to do??.. Deegan, Dax, Ferry.. That's the next generation.. That is going to choose which series is going to be what.

I can see Deegan starting here (usa), then saying to hell with this and try for legit world domination.. with the amount of eyes on him. The next 2 years is going to be super interesting imo.
I’m with you . How many new followers would Deegan get if he raced globally … it’s a different world now they tell me …

Alliance smalliance. The major manufacturers can act like they are all in it together right up until the point it serves someone's best interest to break that alliance.

The undisputed fact is NONE of us know exactly how it will all sort itself out, if you say you know then you're a fool.

If they played it right WSX would be great on a few different levels.

1) Great place for veteran riders to wind their career down (Marvin)
2) Great place to throw rookies after LL's
3) Great place for riders to develop into good SX riders (Think NFL Europe and a guy like Kurt Warner)

The other situation I mentioned could be profitable for a team racing WSX. It seems like they are trying to make these teams have some value to be bought and sold etc. I understand this year is only 3 races but if it was a full season and Honda wanted to get Chance Hymas some SX before A1, they could pay a team like MCR $100K to put him on the team and get a good amount of SX races in before his rookie season actually starts. Might sound ridiculous at first glance but Honda already has a shit ton of money into him, why not put him in the best possible position to succeed?

Sorry it’s not going to happen….the OEM’s in the US want their riders racing in the US…it’s what they are budgeted for. If you think Feld let the FIM go for financial reasons you are sorely mistaken, Feld was looking to do some international race and the OEM’s wouldn’t support it. I’m not saying it never could happen but you won’t see it in the foreseeable future,
It doesn’t make financial sense. Maybe when WSX realizes it would be better off as a fall series..

I don't think sending a 16 year old kid out for 4 or 5 months of international travel in his first pro season is the kind preparation most teams are looking for.

Why not, send a parent with them and they are effectively insulated from any hype around them in the states.

Some people like to find a problem for every solution. My original premise was that it had a chance to remake the sport and so far it has made huge waves. I have no idea how it will all turn out but at this moment in time nobody does. It's more racing and more options, that can never be bad.

I get amused by the folks that piss and moan about the current state of affairs and then when someone comes along to upset the apple cart and make changes they get pissed.

Name one time I have pissed and moaned about the current state?? If anything I have overwhelmingly embraced the current state… I have no problems with change as long as it isn’t an attempt to take away from what is there…WSX would be a great series in the fall but they chose to start a war with the current establishment and after this last volley it appears that they are not getting what they want…their response will be interesting but I’m not sure what they can do now with the OEM’s siding with Feld and MXSports…after it’s all said and done their biggest mistake will have been trying to go head to head with the the outdoors as they felt like most that there was no way those two would get together….

Feld started the war in effect by foolishly relinquishing the FIM world championship status of their SX series.

Blind Freddy could have seen that the next most successful and experienced SX promoter after Feld, the Australian crew, would see obtaining World Championship status as a godsend.

WSX will play the long game and rely on current name riders but develop their own youngsters.
The people are experienced and competent: the car series they took over about 30 years ago is by far the most successful and durable 'tintop' road course series in the world, and still racing pushrod V8's.

I've said it before that I hope a rising SX tide lifts all boats and that the combined broadcast deal for the US Outdoors and SX series works out very well for the Nationals.

Ten years? Why do you think it would take that long to develop?

We've seen talented junior MX riders with no SX experience go from novice to AMA winners in a couple of seasons.

If WSX takes off as expected and gives a reliable, well paid pro career, SX style tracks will become part of junior training all over the place.

I think most people were happy to see FIM go away. Of course, FIM would have some response but the money they paid FIM compared to the value they got were not worthwhile. Remember it is basically the FIM who for all intents and purposes ended James Stewart's career.

I could be way way off, but I think I remember hearing them say on the Pulp show it was over a million dollars a year.

Boy that's a stretch....If we are to believe the hype Jett is a generational talent to join the ranks of Hannah, McGrath, RC and Stewart....so yeah history shows that it will be a little time before we see another one. It's not like Jett came out of nowhere and you can guarantee that the OEM's will tie up the majority of the talent (as they have with Jett) and that is what all young racers aspire to be...factory riders....to put it another way the next phenom will have his choice to race for a factory team or Rick Ware Racing(who?) or maybe even MDK who's history is of not paying their team members, their suppliers and their riders...that should be really attractive to the next phenom...WSX will have the choice of the recently retired, soon to retire and the ones that either fell through the cracks or just weren't good enough to garner a factory ride...it will be a great event for fans wherever they go to enjoy some SX racing, see their childhood heroes closing out their careers and maybe some young talent that wasn't good enough to make it in the states (regardless of where they are from) In my opinion neither of these series are worthy of world championship status but the prestige will remain in the US SX series....

"WSX will have the choice of the recently retired, soon to retire and the ones that either fell through the cracks or just weren't good enough to garner a factory ride."

And exactly what is wrong with that? Do we not want to see Marv racing anymore. How about Deano? Should we just throw kids like Jarret Frye away? Kid obviously has some talent he just wasn't ready to be thrown in the deep end.

There is nothing wrong with that , if they can pull 25k poeple into stadiums around the world year after year with that rider line up is the question ,

And since the promoters are paying Eli ask Kenny to get them a crowd , I’m not sure if they quite believe it yet ,

On the riders going from Loretta to wsx, i thought the plan was to start in July or august next year ?

At what point did I say there was anything wrong with that? talk about using a quote out of context....now for what I said next....it will be a great event for fans wherever they go to enjoy some SX racing, see their childhood heroes closing out their careers and maybe some young talent that wasn't good enough to make it in the states (regardless of where they are from)
Nice try.....

It's not a stretch, it is literally what happened with the Lawrence's. Basically Mirtle trafficked them to the US - well not really - but you know what I mean

Jett is once a decade type talent but his brother Hunter, just as fast when all out, is one of a number of very good riders that with the right guidance and self belief can get to SX championship standard.

It's my belief that with a strong juniors program where the youngsters- 13 to 16- race 250 4 strokes along side the men, same surface, same day, a moto before or after, whatever have the best chance of maturing quickly and becoming conversant with all facets of what is needed to succeed as a pro. This is what happens with EMX and why it is regarded as so useful- and has produced so many champions.

I'd like to know how the Belgians especially, the Germans, French, Italians, Dutch lead their youngsters up the ladder.

The Aussies have recently adopted the EMX program and as I said if the WSX works as well as it looks it will it will possibly seed more SX oriented junior programs which is good for everyone.

It is fair to point out the shortcomings of poorly run teams and shoddy behaviour but with a pro active franchisor in WSX there will be some strict governance applied, as has been the case with the car racing side. If the money is good in WSX and you are the parents and a young WSX talent the opportunity to travel and grow might be as attractive as a basic factory contract.

Hi Silver Spurs. Australia's best junior just wrapped up his week at Loretta Lynn's, then its back to his home in Cairo, GA. What do you want to bet he never puts wheels on a WSX track?

Just watching Deegan's podium interview and something struck me.

What if the Deegans' go to Feld and MX Sports and ask if they can sell merch at the races? If things don't change from current rules, they will be told no. With Hallie having a trailer selling a boatload of merch at NASCAR tracks there is no way they won't want to get some of that at Haiden's races. If they are allowed to sell merch at WSX races there is a big reason to go that route or make the current promotors change rules. Either way it is remaking the sport.

I don't know why some of you guys dig your feet in and insist that WSX is an annoying fly and will go away quickly and we will go back to business as usual. The purse increases alone means that the current promotors see the threat as real. I hope and believe that it will end up being a net positive for the entire moto industry.

How long do we have to listen to you hating on WSX for?

We all know that the AMA is the premier SX series with the best riders, so why do you feel so threatened by WSX that you feel the need to attack it at every given opportunity, from every possible angle? No matter how weak that angle is.

Is this a my SX is bigger than your SX thing? Do you drive a red convertible sports car?
