Forkner Out Indefinitely

He will be fine IMO. The grit and mental strength he showed, this season to comeback and get a win after being taken out through a racing incident he didn't instigate is enough for me to not write home off. If anything I would say pulling out to get the labrum fixed shows he and his team are still focussed on the big picture.

It would be an awesome story if he can break the PC title drought next year.

lots of crashing and lots of injuries.
Well it started going downhill when Star recruited the best riders and made their bikes the fastest...
That doesn't account for these massive crashes all the time. Chassis is out I think.

This might be an unpopular opinion, PC has been surpassed in almost all areas.

1. The bikes aren't THE bike to be on. Other OEMs have just as good or even better bikes.
2. Is Mitch still doing the low base salary & high bonus program? Not a good thing considering point 1.
3. Bad rider signings. Or at least not good enough if you want to contend for the titles.
4. Stopped signing the best MX2 riders in Europe which was one of PC's strengths. Missed out on Ferrandis while he had him on a silver plate. Lawrence brothers etc.

But of course there has been some bad luck with PC too. But some injuries that has happened to the riders have also been because of bike malfunctions.

History would tell us he won’t pull it off. He’s rapidly becoming the next Christian Craig.

I don’t believe the bike is the issue. Kawi has never had a bike that’s been significantly better than the others. This years bike is considered excellent. Maybe the Yamaha is a bit better in stock form but not by much. PC has always found a way regardless of the bike. Your other points might be the issue. It’s hard to imagine a team having worse luck with rider injuries.

you gotta give it to Forkner to still come back into the sport after all these injuries. His win in supercross would of helped mentally but it really sucks seeing him get knocked down again.

I've always rooted for Forkner, never understood the flack the guy got. However, each season did end in disappointment with him, it was really bothersome seeing him throw away season after season. I will say, this past season I've really liked what I saw out of him in terms of things he could control. The incident with Jett really sucks... still feel bad for him. In the old days when it was customary for every rider to get out of 250s and onto a 450 factory rider by 21-23 yrs old, it would be easy to just write Forkner off and assume he's done, but it's getting more and more common for guys in their mid-20s and upwards of 30 to find their stride and put together championship seasons in the 250 class (Osborne, Nichols, and Craig of course). I hope Austin has the same fate.

Because Jett taking him out in Dallas,( which is where this injury happened,) was totally his fault.

Fault doesn’t matter when your results have been what they are. He misses more races then he starts.

Those are just the facts. The “whys” are irrelevant.

It wasn't his fault when Jett took him out 14-15 weeks ago, but he didn't help his recovery by continuing to auger himself in the ground

No offense, but if he hadn't augered himself into the ground more time than we can count over the years, he'd more than likely be in the 450 class by now.

There is nothing wrong with being in the 250 class, but I don't think any rider aspires to be there for their entire career.

For the record, I have no issues with guys riding the 250 class their entire career. I get it. It's their job and they need to earn a living. You go where the money is. I'm just saying I don't think that's what they plan on doing when they visualise their career.

Austin is accountable for a lot more mistakes that took him out of series than other's taking him out.

IMO, he needs a change. Bike, team, trainer, etc. Sometimes you need to cut your losses and start new.

100% change is good. It lets you think outside of the box and breathe a bit. He needs a change and unfortunately Kawi said no. It’s great they still believe in him, as far as Austin’s side, one would think get out of Oklahoma, go to Cali if you have to.

But I sure wish he would have been able to join the Star program. That would have done him a lot of good

I didn’t say he hadn’t crashed in the past. But the two big crashes this year, the one with Jett and the one with Varize, we’re not his fault. He has been in California since mid-November for the he record.

Fork's crash with Jett was brutal. Most of us on here would be off work for 6 months...

Calling the end of this kids career is a little too rough i think.

However, he has been through the meatgrinder waaay too many times for his age. Something needs to change, be it the team, mindset, program or all of it, before his body is bent beyond fixing range.
