I live next a lake, and I take my dog down there most mornings for a walk….we seen all kinds of bird…sandhill cranes, geese, all kinds of ducks, red tail hawks, Ospreys, Mule deer, red fox, coyote, raccoons, bald eagles in the winter….this morning I saw a bunch of these bald faces vultures (not sure what their actual names are?) eating a dead fish…my dog wanted to play with them.

Are these the type of vulture that you’re seeing out by your lake? (I couldn’t see a clear shot in pics!) if so those are commonly referred to as Turkey vultures!
Or at least that’s what they’re called roun’ here in the land o’ the redneck! Ha😎🤪
We call 'em Turkey Buzzards down here.
Nature's janitors.

Sydney Funnel-Web. Only the 5th time I've seen one in person (twice walking past me in my shed).

I named him George.😃

*I live 2 hours north of Sydney

"The Sydney funnel-web spider is a species of venomous mygalomorph spider native to eastern Australia, usually found within a 100 km radius of Sydney. It is a member of a group of spiders known as Australian funnel-web spiders. Its bite is capable of causing serious illness or death in humans if left untreated."

This guy (mountain lion!) got hit by a car out on State Hwy 81 just south of Hwy 152 (approx 25-ish miles west of OKC) back in 2012 or so…
Okla Game commission speculated that he was a juvenile male about 2- 2 1/2 years old and 130 pounds when he was hit crossing the road just before dark.

Most thought they weren’t in Oklahoma any longer but this incident puts that belief to rest!
Kinda scary thinking back on all the solo night MTB rides I’ve done over the years out in the western part of the state! 😳😵‍💫❗️
Poor guy.

I would have named him ‘Squish’. Then I would have rescued the beers and burned the house down in case he had friends/family living with him.

You're supposed to catch them and take them to the hospital, or wildlife park, so they can extract their venom for anti-venom... I just let him do his thing.😂

Here are a couple bald eagles from this past winter (sorry the pictures are awful)…plus and a pile of ice from the lake after a windy storm that blew through.

I found this tarantula on the trail I was hiking 2 weeks ago. Also saw 2 rattlesnakes within 3 minutes on another trail. I wasnt able to get a pic of the rattler. They were pretty decent size and I stayed away.

Agreed. I hate seeing any animal get killed that way and knowing he probably suffered pretty bad before he passed.

In your house or just in the vicinity? I have a good friend who lives in Phoenix and everytime I go to slip my foot in a shoe, boot, or anything, I pound it off the ground several times. Then take a wooden spoon to make sure everything is out. What kind of damage can their sting do?

Rattler?
Yes sir, timber rattler. Pretty common around here, but they're really good at staying out of sight. Not the biggest one I've seen, but definitely one of the bigger ones!

6 years in this house, I do not remember any inside the house, usually 2 or 3 a year in the garage. The rest outside. Our last house I do remember a few inside the house.

I live in Iowa. Off my deck I've seen deer, rabbits, squirrels, mink, raccoons, possum, eagles, buzzards and hawks. Lots of wild turkeys and geese in the field down the block. Over the years I've lots of foxes, coyotes, woodchucks, muskrats and a mountain lion that scared the bejesus out of me when it ran accross in front of my Triumph on a gravel road one night.

Had lots of those at one of our beach house rentals. Got called many times by the guests. It's like a wasp sting. Found this rare scarlet king snake today at the farm. He eats other snakes and is a really cool find. Just have to always know the rhyme... Red and black a friend of Jack. Red and Yellow kill a fellow.

The pic is just small enough on my phone I can’t quite make that out? Is that also a mountain lion, large coyote or even a wolf?
Sorry, just can’t quite make it out?
Cool pic tho! 👍

I think its a bobcat but I'm not positive, it doesn't appear to have any spots? Definitely not coyote or wolf. Southeastern Ohio right on WV border.

I just returned from our place in South Africa. Here's the camera trap footage we got over the last couple of months that is taken from under the decking. Good to see our resident leopard back, we haven't seen it for years.
