OK well heres my take on the Two Stroke Invitational beings my 'rider'/best friend raced it today and ended up second.
the field was WEAK, only the top 3 riders were jumping everything consistently.
There was supposed to be 30 enteries but ended up with something like 15, mos tof whom were goons! My guy is a fast 'A' rider, has raced LL's in the A class raced AX's and all of that. He's been riding a 2 stroke for the last two years again!
We built a bad ass RM250 this year. I'm hoping someone got pictures of it!
Haas who won is a local A rider and won all of his classes on amateur days up there. We go there last night, 4 laps of practice, 3 in the race...
I agree its kind of lame but it was cool for Colin to do... He's never raced in front of that many people and was stoked at all of the people around the track yelling and wacing towels.......
It would be cool if more good riders showed up and made it a race but all in all it was a good time!
Todd who got third also post on here once in a while, mxr102 or something to that effect!
Hey, I got thanked on a podium at a national, i'm happy!

Just like the 4stroke Nationals were in the beginning.
My personal opinion would be that it would be short lived and most would end up on the thumpers but it would at least be apples to apples.
Good stuff!
Are you guys planning to hit any others?
The thumper wouldn't stand a chance.
Pit Row
In the 250 class, the overly loud engines won't make as much power as the oil burners, but still have a broader spread of power and are easier to ride for 2 long motos. It'd be more equal than a dyno chart would suggest, imo.
Try that with 125cc machines, and the valve munchers won't stand a chance given the current technology being used. Move them to twin cylinders, with MotoGP technology, and it could be interesting. But given the cost, it's not likely to happen.
The issues with 4 strokes are noise and cost, both of which have detrimental effects on the long term survivability of dirt biking in general. And if that suffers greatly, MX/SX/FMX will go away.
In racing usually even if your bike is lighter and a better handling machine you will not keep up if your straightaway speed is slower because the larger and heavier machines will block the ideal line in the turns and then walk you on the straights due to 2x the displacement. That is why the 2 strokes usually qualified faster but lost in the actual race.
Sorry but the 4 stroke 250 roadrace bikes just barely manage to keep up w/ the 125cc 2 strokes and that is their intended competition, if they don't blow up. Against a 250 2 stroke w/ 135 rwhp a 4 stroke 250cc has absolutely no chance. The 4 strokes are just too expensive to maintain for a fast amateur road racer that needs a lot of track time.
